Unconventional PvP Fights Are Fair

So I'm a regular listener/watcher of the Planet Destiny podcasts, they're fun dudes, but the past few weeks in PvP I've heard people there (guests and hosts, more recently nkutch and Teft) complaining about how playing passive and going invis aren't fair. Sure, they're unconventional but that's what makes this game great - you can fight in more ways than one. Maybe you and your team aren't good with doing direct fights, maybe you're better playing passive and witty: That should NOT be a problem. It's not cheating to be passive, it's not cheating to use invisibility to your advantage, it's not cheating to use your bubble to your advantage. It's not like many teams can pull off unconventional plays against experienced players anyway! This isn't a boxing match, this is warfare. Anything goes. So before calling players out on their strategy, ask yourself, are you just mad because their train of thought is different than yours? Confining the community to one playstyle is what's unfair. A win is a win, unless you're literally cheating (ie head glitching.) Reference link: https://youtu.be/10QgRQMGGX4 at 16:10 - Apparently being a Nightstalker or Bladedancer who goes invis is CHEAP!

          • They're just complaining because they lose those unconventional gunfights quite often, so look bad on stream. They sit around playing video games all day, do you really think they're intelligent?

              • Depends how 'passive you mean' simply camping in a spot hoping someone will come along is a crap way to play because a, your relying on other people to not play passively and b, if more people puck this style as it gets results then we'll have games where both teams just sit in their favoured positions hoping someone will feed them a kill

                • I play relatively passive, AKA "aggressive flanking". I see conservative play as any point where you're engaging the enemy while they aren't facing you. That is passive play to me, whether you're pushing the enemy or not. Yes, sometimes passive play also means hunkering down to calculate your next move; the first rule in warfare is to take any kill you can get, any way you can. If you can engage the enemy without taking a bullet, DO IT.

Yeah man it's just their opinion I believe going Invis and camping is a cheap move (not cheating) I believe the bubble spamming for supers is a cheap move (not cheating) Cheap is a matter of opinion I don't find any gun in the game cheap A lot of people do ._.

                • Agreed. Maybe Bungie should just develop a Crucible mode called "Vanilla": No level advantages No supers No grenades Everyone gets the same armor, shader, and emblem Everyone gets the same weapon - primary only, no special, no heavy Everyone gets he same perks on armor, weapon, and subclass Matches are formed that contain only the same class. Titans fight Titans, Hunters fight Hunters, and Warlocks fight Warlocks. Arena style map No fire teams Only get a loot drop if you win That completely levels the playing field for everyone, gives those who don't have that one special weapon or those who complain about OP this and OP that a place to go sort out who has the "true skill", and only rewards those with the "true skill".
You are right - this sounds completely boring and stupid. I am an idiot for even suggesting this
• Pretty sure invis shotgun is for scrubs. There is nothing skilled about disappearing from radar and running at people when they can't see you. Anyone advocating for these styles doesnt understand the need for arena style gameplay and you're bad so you slap labels like "passive gameplay" when you're really just using crutches.

                  • Invis is bad, but high level gameplay has always since the dawn of time boiled down to playing passive. Unless its a high level team rolling a lowbie time.

                  • His want to ban a counterplay to his strat is what keeps me out of Sweats. I'm convinced that this is the reasoning behind a ton of the restrictions in Sweats: it counterplays the competitive meta so it's banned. His spiel about "gentleman's agreement" roughly translates to "you outplayed me and that is cheap, so you shouldn't have access to that ability." Considering cloaking in Destiny isn't pure invisibility, that's a little ridiculous to ban the healthier use of Smoke. Not to mention the podcast's further inability to call out Smoke as a STR-based ability is fascinating.

                    • "Gentleman's agreement." He says as everyone is using thorn last word. Competitive bladedancers don't run invis because hungering blade is far superior. I think he didn't like it because they have a hard time adapting to good strategies they haven't encountered before

                    • I agree with you. Use what you have at your disposal. I main a Warlock, so I have the best grenades. You bet your ass I'm going to torch you with Firebolts. I expect the same from other people. Titans are going to smash me with high damage melees and clutch supers, and Hunters will have slight gunplay advantages.

                      • Passive play doesn't usually help the team much. It works if all you care about is your own k/d. Those who camp and snipe may get positive k/d but they tend to fail at pushing the opposing team or capture zones (or whatever the objective). It can be a successful strategy in trials. Not all passive players are the same. Savvy ones know not to camp one spot for too long and where they need to move to best insure the victory for their team.

Just like the video I post below, at the very end planet destiny brings up sweaty players using thorn when they don't even compete in the tournament. Also if u listen to the whole pod cast bungie just wants to nerf everything https://youtu.be/7SP9qlL8Ip4
