What does the Traveler say?
NOTHING BECAUSE ITS BARELY INVOLVED IN THE STORY DESPITE BEING PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF IT!

It's a friggin ping pong ball in the sky. What is it supposed to say
-
Damn this comment turned into a debate lol
-
Actually it's dead/sleeping/unconscious/a giant floating ball

The traveler is the reason we're guardians and has made attempts at sharing its light with other species. Oryx has been hunting it and it has fled every time. We're the first time it didn't flee.
-
And this is actually mentioned in the game HOW many times? I don't even remember Pryx wanting to find the traveler, or Crota. If they really wanted to, they could just blast the Tower from orbit. Oryx demolished the Queens fleet in mere seconds, Earth would be an easy conquest. The main reason he even came to our solar system was to get revenge on us for killing his son...
-
Rasputin alone would destroy the dreadnaught.

The worst part about Destiny is it doesn't give the story in game. You have to read the grimiore cards from collecting ghosts and calcified fragments. The calcified fragments give you the backstory of Oryx and the Hive. Short version, the Deep who gave the hive its powers via the worms convinced Oryx and his sisters that the Traveler was responsible for their pre-worm short lifespans and their apocolypse. The hive also believe that if you are conquered you are false and they are true. So every time the traveler flees they are proved true. So they keep following the traveler and murdering the species' it gives the light to in order to prove they are true. Their ultimate goal is to kill the "sky", of whome the traveler is a part, and be the final version of the universe, where they are the only ones left.

Sounds like a really interesting concept.....sucks that it wasn't even remotely explored in the game's story.
-
True. Destiny's story would have been almost as good as the one in Dark souls if the lore was in the game.
-
It does. There's so much lore that should be included in game but just isn't. You beat Oryx and wonder why you have to face him in the Raid. The Hive have Throne Worlds they discovered that makes them immortal unless you kill them in their Throne World. We killed Crota in his and Oryx turned the Dreadnaught into his. When we killed him in the raid we killed him in his Throne World. But he has two sisters who can bring the hive back together. They never gained his power of the deep to take other species though.

So true
