So you wouldn't count playing a game that triggers high amounts of dopamine and adrenaline into your body as substance abuse?

No, games are simply fun, a distraction if you like. Also, natural highs arent even remotely the same as artificial highs so you're way off base with that analogy.

Edited by Lucius Aelius: 12/23/2015 7:43:59 AMChemistry is chemistry, they're both different highs but that doesn't in and of itself mean one is better than the other. I agree with you though that anyone who needs pot/drugs to enjoy life is pitiful and sad, and drugs are no replacement for actually being happy and enjoying life. For me it's just a fun thing to do that makes games and whatnot more fun to play. I haven't smoked in at least a week and I'm still happily enjoying myself, playing games daily and having fun without any drugs, anything used in excess and relied upon too much will be bad of course (and some drugs, all the hard stuff, are just outright bad, no question), but that doesn't mean all drugs are inherently bad. Drugs should never and can never replace happiness, when used right they just make happy moments that much happier and more fun, and there's nothing at all wrong with that as long as you don't go overboard.

Although i myself dont agree with drugs of any kind i can see where you are coming from & understand the point you are making. Well thought out reply & tbh i wasnt expecting an intelligent response in these forums, kudos to you sir & a merry xmas.

I'm actually not your inducing yourself into another world place or time the same way lsd reacts to your brain video games do the same thing that's not a "natural" high as you do wrongly put it. Natural high is going outside seeing a bright sunshine day and being happy about it that's natural. Sitting in a room with a tv and other electronics actually is known to cause anxiety from not going out and interacting with real people. It's not an analogy it's been proven by the same people that say drugs and alcohol are deadly

A natural high is the result of simply enjoying life, an artificial high is for ppl that cant reach a natural high in their everyday normal life. Ive seen those so called researchers/documentaries etc & they take themselves way too literally as you are also doing. The results that you speak of are only relevant in the form of addicts in which case even gaming can be hazardous to your health, im talking purely in the sense of day to day activity where addicts arent relevant. If ppl simply cant enjoy life without needing artificial stimulants then i find that pretty sad. You sound just like one of those scientists bending/twisting facts to back up your argument when you clearly understand my point but choose to pick bones just for the sake of it. To be more clear.... If you are ingesting alien substances into your system to create a high then i think thats sad.

Edited by Defiler of sylok: 12/23/2015 7:35:02 AMNow we're ingesting alien substances for a high? How about this If your using MAN MADE items to reach a high or a goal of being happy and it chasing/grinding out the same routine/drug day to day your an addict and that's not a natural high. Also I'm not bending a damn thing but stay on topic there son your argument is that gaming is a natural high don't step off from your soap box there. Also wtf is this
im talking purely in day to day activities where addicts aren't relevant
then wtf are we talking about?!?! Your the one that brought addicts into this now your backtracking...... Don't waste my time make sense not excuses

Muted for being an idiot. If you cant understand a simple statement then pls dont bother trying to sound intelligent. You make no valid points whatsoever, you simply took offense at what i wrote & are trying to pick apart what i said to match your own criteria. Any high that you get in life from normal experiences is a natural high, i.e. your body produces the chemicals needed to reach that high. Any high that requires you sticking a needle in your arm or ingesting foreign substances ISNT a natural high, im severely disheartened to discover someone with your level of intelligence in todays world as most ppl i talk with understand the simple point im making. Obviously you dont understand & therefore im severing all connections with you to preserve my own sanity & intelligence. Have a good day, merry xmas & goodbye.

Clearly stated what a natural high was I know the difference between dopamine and serotonin studied psychology for 3 years. Apparently you missed my point I should be the one muting you unfortunately I'm not a child so I'll break it down more for you. NOW by your ORIGINAL statement your defending gaming against drug abuse claiming it's a natural high. I disagree and have brought valid references as to why. I forgot my crayons but someone as "intelligent" as you should've already picked up what I was saying apparently not. When you turn that game on its no different then tying that string around your arm and when your press start there's the needle in your vein. YOU ARE ADDICTED there's nothing natural about sitting in front of a tv for hours chasing a gun that won't mean shit in five years but when you get it... OH THE RUSH GOD DAMN THAT FEELS GOOD. So you chase it.. And you get another exotic... Eh not bad was happier when I got the other... You chase another... Oh cool I got another.. And you keep chasing and chasing... There's literally no difference except for one You don't have track marks if you stay up late you still look like you've been binged out all night that's the same. But apparently your subconsciously talking about recreational users and casual gamers then sure yeah huge difference there still not natural on either end but I'll bite. Do you get what I'm saying now?
