The elite also want the challenges to be so hard that no one can do it but their specific team.
The elite also want subscription model so they can get more consistent content.
If Bungie listens to them, they lose the million or so they have in exchange for 10K.

^ This. Bungie pays the most attention to the players who make a living from playing the game whether with YouTube or live streaming on Twitch. These people play hours a day every day. They don't reflect the millions of other players who can't invest even a third amount of time into the game. Hasn't Bungie ever heard of demographics?
