Ok cool. I'm guessing you started destiny with the taken King, I know a lot of new players just skipped the old raids

Yep. Started soon after TTK, but am wanting to relive some of the "glory days" of Y1. Main reason I want to run VoG is to get the shader and ship related to its loot table.
