SLE episode 4
I opened my eyes. The air surrounding me was whipping about. A small spark appeared in front me. A small cube with an eye. It spoke to me. During its explanation of my weakening I had a flash:my hands holding a boy, my son. I had a son? But it was over. I looked down at myself to see a black overtone of skin-but it wasn't skin at all. I touched it:all I felt.... It wasn't the feel I remembered, but it was feeling nonetheless. I was metal. What had happened? The cube told me to get up, and follow him.
Another flash happened as I stretched my arm to my back for a weapon,an instinct I had for some reason, occurred. This time I was looking up to a woman and a doctor crying, me holding the females hand as a shock ran through my entire body. I froze in place. Did I have amnesia? Why was I a robot? And what was this world I was in? The ghost-the cube told me that was what he was- told me to keep going. I grabbed hold of a gun, a small rifle in my hands. It seemed familiar yet not. As I felt it's trigger I had another flash-this time me walking slowly in a square room with observing scientists. I had my robotic body in this one. They were proud of me but had a worrisome tone.
Another flash happened immediately after. This one I saw panicking people rushing somewhere while I was getting ready to sleep in some way. I didn't have a flash after that last one. I must have deco cued to take a long nap.
"Well cmon, the vanguard won't wait forever. It's okay, I will guide you through this world."
"What happened? Where... What am I"
"You appear to be an exo, a Titan to be exact. Most Titans have that kinda look, you know? Oh I apologize, I just forgot you've been dead. A Titan is-"
"WHERE AM I!" I stared at the small machine with a glare. I was confused, I didn't belong here. I didn't deserve this confusion. No one did.
*a day later*
"And that's your new ship. Any questions Titan?" The blonde woman asked me with a country accent.
I decided to walk away. I found everything so strange and I had been up for the past 24 hours, and while I didn't feel any exhaustion-how would I as a robot- I wanted to shut my eyes. The ghost who I now knew as Weber did help me out by explaining much of what I needed to know. For some odd reason all of it sounded like a toddler learning the alphabet for the first time-so new and alien. I saw a couple like me:Robotic voice, humanoid robot with a personality-yet I didn't know why I was here. I didn't need an explanation of the traveler when Weber started to talk to me about the thing, for some reason I knew exactly what it was. A miracle. A gift from the universe to us. I did not know how or why I did know this and not anything else. Weber spoke of terms like "light" was why but I didn't have it.
Everything was still so new. The worst thing was that as new everything was, my last was an even bigger mystery. I shut the door to my new quarters:the people here were trying to defend the Traveler and were a sort of army, so I got my own quarters. I lied down and had a familiar dream:Someone named Beta, the first successful man to be turned machine. The dream ended with a mirror showing my face as this person. I was Beta. The first exo.
New episode will be in a week, I'm writing 3 takes and releasing them all then.
