Jaden looked up and spoke to Romii.
"Switch will be fine. He just needs to concentrate. Lake however..."
Dark tendrils of what looked like black smoke were beginning to emerge from Lake's wounds, almost like worms seeing daylight for the first time. Emerging further out, they began to spiral and coalesce together between Lake's neck and Switch's hand.

Some of the tendrils didn't leave. Instead, they burrowed deeper, until they manifested on his skin, like a tattoo. The wound stopped bleeding and was beginning to close, yet the tattoo remained. It was like a scar.

J: "Uh, Switch... That isn't you is it?" Switch couldn't hear him, or anyone for that matter. All he could hear was the silence. The darkness. The voice. The tendrils that had escaped wrapped themselves around Switch's hand like constrictors, before silently absorbing themselves into his hand. As for the remaining ones, they would be harder to remove. The voice was getting louder inside Switch's head. He couldn't make out who's it was : Aries or the deep. Truthfully, there had never been much of a difference between the two to begin with.

Erik socked him in the side of the head. "Quit! Look at what you're doing!" A dark aura surrounded Switch, growing stronger the more time he absorbed the Darkness. Erik pulled him away. "There's too much in you to keep doing this. You're leaking some inside him, obliterating the work you just did. Take a break."

[i]Ro looks [/i] " how long til you are ready to go again?" [i] She looks back at Lake who now just looks beyond death.[/i]

Jaden charged for Erik. J: "What the hell are you doing?! He's trying to help him!" He tackled Erik in the side, sending both of them crashing to the floor. Barely even aware of what was going on around him, Switch tried to focus even more. He had completely zoned out, like he wasn't even within himself anymore. He hadn't even felt or noticed the strike to his head. Another tendril of darkness emerged from Lake's healing wounds and spiraled into the air. The taint was by no means however completely gone from Lake's body.

"He doesn't know what he's doing! We need to stop him, and you need to help me!" Erik threw him off. "When he absorbs that much Darkness, he stops becoming himself. He'll be consumed. Gone. Nothing but a shadow."

"Oh yeah? And how exactly would you know that, genius? Did you not see what he just did earlier?! Massive dark tentacle monster erupting from the ground all over the city, ring a bell? Well that guy right there took it all into himself, and he's still the same guy. That much I'm sure of!"

"Have you seen me? I'm Taken. I've had my Light ripped out of me, to feed Oryx. I was pumped full of whatever he has control of, Darkness or some shit. Now I can't even get revenge on him. And you say I don't know what's happening?!"

Switch wearily sat up from the ground, exhausted from trying to remove the darkness from Lake. "It's not the same thing Erik. You were robbed of your will completely, turning you into a husk. And in return, Oryx gifted you with dark powers. For me, its different. Aries poisoned me with the darkness itself, from his own tainted body and mind. I can hear his sorrow inside my head. It's not even [u]his[/u] sorrow anymore, its mine. The only think that's been taken from me is nearly everything I care about"

"Don't lecture me about losing things you care about," Erik spat. "I've already lost enough loved ones to the Darkness. My father, my sister, even Serra..." He sat down against a wall.

J: "He's not saying that you haven't lost anything, dimwit..." S: "Jaden, don't. He has his reasons"

"I know. That wasn't what I was saying. What I'm [i]trying[/i] to say is get used to it. It doesn't feel any better next time. For what it's worth, you've got more control over your abilities than others have. You didn't blow is all to Hell, for starters."

S: "I would never do such a thing..." J: "Well then. We have our difference between you two. You almost sound like you enjoy being stripped of the light. Switch wants nothing more than to fight on its behalf" S: "You've murdered other guardians?..."

S: "It must feel like torture. Being the only taken who still has his own will, or at least enough to realise what he's become"

"The rest of the Taken are mindless slaves. They've failed Oryx. I won't. Not anytime soon." He took a shuddering breath.

Switch sighed. None of the conversations he was having were going anywhere. No one trusted him anymore, and it was too dangerous for him to stay in the city. He had demonstrated control, but people were too afraid and suspicious to accept him staying. Actions speak louder than words. He would have to show them that he wasn't a dark guardian, not really. All the last city had left for him now was denial and rejection. If he wanted to return things to normal, he'd have to find answers elsewhere, beyond the walls. Aries was still out there after all. He did this to Switch. He was going to pay. Severely. S: "Forget it... I'm leaving" J: "I am too" S: "No you're not, Jaden. I can't guarantee your safety around me, and I have no idea what being near to me does to someone in the long term" J: "yeah yeah, cut the crap space wizard. I can take care of myself" S: "This isn't something you can just protect yourself from by having good aim, Jaden" J: "I'm aware of that, but I'm certain that this sickness is in good hands. Your hands. If anyone can hit this thing in the ass hard enough to fly it back to whatever pit it crawled out of, its gonna be you. Besides, I don't think I can stand these thick assholes anymore" S: "what about Zaaria?" J: "She'll be on our side in this. Trust me on that. She loves is too much. Me more than you, but y'know, details..." S: "Heh. She's not that stupid" J: "She's a titan, so yeah she is" S: "Anyway, we should get going then, if you really wnat to do this" J: "I do, Switch. I do"

S: "Go on... What do you mean by restraint?"

"If you get too angry, you'll most likely lose control. Your Darkness is determined by your emotional state. Get too angry or sad, it starts to take over."

S: "That's going to be a problem. I'm pretty pissed of at Aries right now and I don't think that's diminishing any time soon"
