Sometimes I swear I've crossed the line first, but somehow the guy behind me got it first.
It could be one of those things like where you swear you shot the guy 10 times and he didn't die, ignoring the holes in the wall behind him.

There is this weird glitch when multiple sparrows get to close the the one closer to the center will teleport ahead randomly, its visible to everbody but the racer having it happen. I've seen a few races won like that.

That was probably it. Thankfully you get good rewards regardless of your placement lol
