Vanity items dont affect gameplay so why bother getting worked up over it

Because anything at all that you pay for shouldn't be random. If I want to pay for a cosmetic, I should be able to choose the cosmetic I want. Just look at CS:GO. They have a system where you can get random weapon skins for money... or you can buy the specific skins you want.
