• Did you forget that when you "levelled" up the weapon from vanilla to TDB levels (300-302/3), the entire perk experience tree reset? And back then you had to farm additional glimmer, experience mats, shards, and then a new form of currency - exotic shard, and then had to wait each week for a CHANCE to update your old gear, pay 7000+ for each piece AND a shard (x 6+ pieces, but you can only hold 25,000 glimmer at a time, but can only do transactions for 2 days), because Xur only offered updates on new gear also at random (some of my gear was relegated to old levels because they simply weren't in the rotation - for weeks). So your Invective went from regenerating its own magazine at level 300, to an empty perk chart (which back then didn't unlock exotic perks out of the box), so if you chose to spend the 7000+ glimmer and a shard (7strange coins), you ended up 303 Invective that couldn't really do anything, except be an okay solar shotgun. It was so bad, that Bungie apologized and never went back to that model... However, it also related to Legendaries, that were capped at 300, even though the cap was raised to 331, but it wasn't until 365 were able to use stuff that was 300 again... So there was a period of - you could have your old exotics back - but you had to wait until we randomly chose which ones, and then made you pay a total amount that we didn't let you keep on hand, then we generously removed your progress to let you enjoy leveling it all over again... Your Legendaries are no longer useful in PvE end-game, so you could dismantle those, because 331 gear was desired - but then 365 gear came out with etheric light, so you could get that 300 gear and use it again, but we no longer sell it - so tough. You wanted to keep it? Not enough vault space - tough. So now we'll give you more vault space, to store your stuff, but then we won't let you bring any old gear to play new end-game PvE or leveled PvP, but you can keep some of it, just in case (because Deej said - hold on to that year 1 that you like), but you can't upgrade (yet - or ever, we can't say - because we really don't know). There is a lot more to this trail than the single quote - but it was just the beginning to this blatant mismanagement that we are witnessing over the last 15 months.

Why did you have to give such detailed information from TDB? Those were special times I enjoyed redoing everything and farming glimmer. It was so fun I only releveled one exotic and had enough.

The exotic updates for TDB was a shit show. One of the dumbest decisions Bungie has made. And they've made lots of poor decisions, but almost all of them eventually boil down to a lack of content. But that doesn't mean the people pulling that quote aren't using it out of context. It does not stand for the proposition that Bungie promised us we would be able to use our favorite legendaries for as long as we wanted.

  • I've read the update. You still have to insist how he is putting it out of context.

  • If they were only talking about exotics why did they allow us to upgrade legendaries when how dropped? HOW was our answer to what they were talking about. This guy can spin it how ever he wants but bungie gave us the answer a few months after that update.
