Cain was standing in front of Fort Athena, the headquarters of the Future War Cult. He had a job to pick up there. As the gates open. 3 Guardians stand before him. They escort Cain to the Overseer's office to pick up the mission.
Now, he's in a Fireteam, running around Ishtar, and killing Vex. The team stops to rest at the Vault door. Then and there, a one of the members stand up and say...
