I don't get why people think matchmaking for raids would be so awesome. The chances of you getting past the totems with a completely random group with little to no experience, half the raid not using headsets, and low light levels is really really low. Do you really think it would be fun to spend hours not making any progress at all when you can spend 15 minutes putting together a competent group from an LFG site that can clear the raid in an hour? And for people who say, "oh you'll get the same idiots on a LFG site," If you get the same type of idiots, you have no one to blame but yourself for joining the group that just says, "LF3M Kings Fall." Join a group that is advertising for a successful run and looking for people with experience. Don't have experience you say? That's fine, just watch a few videos on the encounters of the raid and go in with a good understanding of what to do and you should be more than fine. Also, if you happen to join a group full of loud squeakers or teenagers calling each other the N word or a similar scenario, you should probably realize that the chances of your run being smooth and successful just went down the -blam!-ing drain, so leave, and find yourself a new group.

  • Here's how you make raid match making work. Matchmade raid - EASY mode with lower but adequate light level gear as rewards, with no weekly reset until your FIRST completion. Normal mode and hard mode can stay the same, but get much much better rewards. That way everyone can experience the raid, even if you're primarily a solo or small team player.

  • This is what completely ruined the allure of raiding in WoW. If people don't want to put time into doing difficult content, then they shouldn't do it, period. Not to say that raiding is difficult in this game, it take about an hour to find a raid group and clear the raid on hard mode.

"the allure of raiding" ??? Wtf is that? This in no way will effect those that use LFG sites or other outlets to find teams to raid with. Absolutely nothing changes for you. NOTHING! Having a easy match made raid only helps the community as a whole, especially those who can't spend a hour or more finding strangers. There is nothing bad about having a choice.

  • Since I learned of LFG I thought "Why can't Bungie just make a bulletin board in the game where people can select the level they want to do co-op on and make special requests?" It's really not that hard to implement and use this on a console game. You don't need a keyboard or microphone for everything. I've already visualized all of the menus you'd need to do this fairly simply, and people can see your light level and experience in the level so they know what they're dealing with. There's a lot of things in Destiny that could have been simplified or added as a simple feature, and I keep seeing over and over these things missed or other things just over-complicated that they just don't need to spend the time doing the logic for. As slick as I thought Halo was, Destiny has shown me many times that Bungie just wasn't thinking very hard about a lot of things that they should have.

  • Actually quite the opposite, the amount of coding that would be put into something like you describe is a lot.... like an insane amount of coding. It's not just something they're going to throw into a patch or hotfix. We likely won't see anything like that until Destiny 2 or 3, if at all.

  • People aren't asking for matchmaking for raids, they're asking for an LFG system built into the game so that the purely excruciating task of switching from web site to live messaging to game invites can be done easier. I also don't understand why people argue against this, you wouldn't be forced to use it.

  • You're right, I wouldn't use it at all. Then why should they spend time and resources on making a system that will ultimately be a failure for 90% of the people who use it and discourage those same people from using it again? As cool as an in-game destiny LFG would be that would allow us to pick and choose our groups, the amount of coding that would need to go into such a feature is a lot. We probably wouldn't see something like that until Destiny 2, if not Destiny 3.
