Microtransactions is everything that is wrong in the whole gaming industry.
1990: they released finished products.
2000: they released expansion packs on a CD/DVD to a finished product. (allthough there were free patches available)
2007: they released somewhat finished products and downloadable expansions for a fee.
2010: they released the game as fast as they can, cut some content to sell it as microtransaction or a DLC pack
2015: the game is nothing but a frame to fill up with little microtransactions, as this is the most profitable way of making $$$ from a game
2020: ???

Edited by LoneAssassin54: 11/10/2015 3:29:29 PMPLUS! We get free dlc because of it...
-
There is no free dlc... Activision makes the money decisions and they said last week that payed dlc and micro transactions will coexist.

I almost choked on my coffee laughing when I read the last line saying they expect the legendary edition to sell very well this holiday season. I may be wrong, but I assume that isn't going to be the case.
-
If people don't have destiny by now they are not going to get it... Its reputation and bungies are pretty much in the dirt.
-
Yea my thoughts were similar. I think i am off to my own sabbatical from destiny for awhile. Last matches were this morning.
-
Steam sale next month I should be able to get Fallout 4 for cheap and the bugs should be fixed. Also should have The Division beta next month as well.

Edited by LoneAssassin54: 11/10/2015 3:52:14 PMUgh, they're saying that they can co exist. Meaning there can be free dlc because of mt
-
Edited by Cromica: 11/10/2015 3:54:45 PMThey know they can make money... Nothing will be free. Business 101 don't give away what you can charge for.
-
Do you know how much they made from micro transactions? A SHIT ton
-
Do you know how much they made off the impatient during that window the 'deluxe' edition was the only was to get the new emotes? Probably a lot. I think that was entirely intentional as well; to milk part of the playerbase for another $80 bucks then turn around 6-8 weeks later and offer the emotes as it's own micro transactions to the rest of the patient players.
-
And you honestly think they will give away dlc when they could make a shit ton more...
-
Edited by LoneAssassin54: 11/10/2015 4:03:04 PMYes, it's simple business tactics. So more people buy destiny because of the free dlc and then they pay for more emotes. M M O
-
This isn't an mmo. Is an fps that uses a few things from the mmo genre and does most of them badly. The only thing destiny does right is the gunplay. Destiny has such a terrible reputation in the gaming community if people don't have it yet they aren't going to get it. But you people go ahead and think free dlc is coming while spending money on stupid emotes that offer nothing to the actual game.
-
Yeah because people who work hard to make these games for us shouldn't be payed at all and should be homeless and starve. Do yah realize what you're saying
-
Dont start throwing up riddicculous assumptions. You know very well what I meant. Microtransactions as a trend is destroying the quality of our games. The choice is mine, whether I buy them or not. But there will always be mommy's little sunshines that buy every little item there is and not knowing what he/she is doing for the industry.
-
Yeah giving us free dlc
-
You still think that the next DLC will be free? Bungie said the funds will be directed to a team which does events and under the hood improvements. Events like the halloween thingy.

Edited by LoneAssassin54: 11/10/2015 3:39:47 PMRead it all: No it's dlc. Thats confirmed. Stop being negative. This game has gotten very boring for me, I'm just waiting for new content, to start again. You people think if Bungie changes one thing it ruins everything. Personally I believe ttk was good in some ways, (the story) and ruining the game in others, such as leveling which is way too easy. The grind isn't there for me anymore

Edited by Altoryu: 11/10/2015 6:02:16 PMThe story is in shambles, we have heard hide nor hair from The Stranger since the end of the base game and even your character the guardian has had NO new dialogue since the base game. Sure we got more from Ghost now and other NPC's like Eris and Cayde-6 are a welcome addition but nothing for some of the more important character like the character you're playing as. Seems they have taken all speaking privileges away from the Guardian and given them to Ghost and it shows in the dialogue where the guardian could have easily had some lines. The raids themselves suffer majorly from this, no real context to why you are there or what the major plan is. I mean just take King's Fall, there is little info about it and suddenly you are using Tomb Husks to open a portal in the Court of Oryx to get to Oryx who has become a giant somehow. Sure I am sure that the Grimoire says something about it but it's stupid considering you need your PC or phone just to look that info up, why doesn't Destiny have a thing similar to the Codex from Mass Effect where you could read about all the info you have gathered or even be able to view your current bonuses from killing 'x' amount of an enemy type for example? Destiny is far from perfect and Bungie even less so since they seem to bungle up a lot of things wether it's restricting content to a certain edition of the game or taking out elemental primaries cause they thought it restricted gun variety (honestly they should have just inserted more elemental primaries since they obviously had no issue keeping something like the Supercell around). I don't mind the MT's too much since so far it's just been emotes and stuff for the Festival of the Lost and that's fine cause I will treasure my scheming emote. However I doubt the MT's will do much to encourage the making of anything big aside from events like Festival of the Lost and more is just something they threw in to line their pockets more. They make something good out of it, all the power to them but I won't be holding my breath for the Microtransactions to be included for anything more then just more money for Bungievision.
