Yep. And some will say "well...if you ever played an MMO you'd -really- know what a grind is like...." But...Destiny's not an MMO. By Bungie's own design (and description) it's an MMO/FPS. It's different; it's a hybrid. And by that, they strongly implied that it was going to take the 'best' of the two; not the worst.
