I'm stunned by the truth that I just read. It's been done right before our eyes but I hadn't put the pieces together until I read your post. I've been asking myself: TTK received wide praise from critics and players alike - how did it go from so promising to the worst state of play seen so far? You nailed it: They patched more grind in after the fact. We didn't know about time-gated content back then. We didn't know how badly the new content would shrink the world instead of expand on it.
