I complete agree. I stopped playing a few weeks ago. I logged in once a week to check what xur was selling (and finally got the Supercell) but I'm done. I pretty much played year 1 continuously. It was so addicting. Repetitively doing raids and nightfalls trying to get the Gjallahorn. At least when you finally got the drop you really wanted the drop was at top level (whether it be raid gear or an exotic).
All of a sudden I found myself done with Destiny. You can keep grinding raids but the odds of it dropping you 310 or 320 gear were really slim. You finally get the boots you wanted only to get them at 303.
I found it so frustrating that I turned it off and stopped playing. I really like the year 1 leveling system better. Everyone could level to 30 or 31 fairly easily without fireteams. If you found legendaries or grinded for marks you could by the gear you needed. Participating in the raid got you one level up from everyone else. Once you found the boots (it's always the boots for me) then you could grind the raids for materials to upgrade them. Way easier than relying on RNG to simply drop you a 310/320 object.
It would of been like the original raids randomly dropping level 29 gear instead of 30 (or 31 instead of 32).
What makes it worse with Taken King is instead of 4 pieces of equipment needed to hit max level (light level being the new max level) you need 10. So not only do you keep getting random low drops for equipment but you need to be able to get all 10 on perfect rolls which seems almost impossible.
It's the first time the grind doesn't feel worth it. It would take an eternity to get to perfect light level, only to have the equipment deemed useless when ever the next dlc (or destiny 2) comes out.
It's amazing that vanilla destiny and it's DLC's kept me hooked for a year, but Taken King had me run away after a month.
