You did it Bungie! Im no longer addicted!
A week without playing Destiny has opened my eyes.
With TTK destiny got a lot of [b]good[/b] things like the new questing system, more interesting bounties.. a whole new patrol area. Strikes that are fun to play and new subclasses that feel fun to play.
But with those good things there came things that in the end ruined the game for me and many others I believe.
[b]Weapons:[/b] You took away our favourite weapons from Y1. Fatebringer, Icebreaker, Black hammer and Gjallarhorn and gave us no choice of ascending the gear we have grown into. Instead, you gave us a bunch of new weapons that dont feel as powerful as Y1 weapons even remotely. You murdered Hand cannons and gave us Hand Cannon lovers no way of practising our trade.
I personally have not found a set of new weapons I would feel home at.
[b]Lvl 34-40:[/b] I went from 34-40 in a one day! In a game where you are forced to grind for gear you get the XP levels for free? XP levels are utterly useless. Just a number which rolls up too quickly.
In my opinion this was a huge -blam!- up from bungie.. Levels should have meaning, Levels should be harder to get.
[b]Sense of progression and old content:[/b] None! All the gear we have grinded was swept useless in a single blow! Bungie does it periodically to keep players grinding for gear. But for what? I dont see the carrot grinding items anymore. After the items have swept clean from our pockets, the old content get rendered useless.
The game gets an "expansion" But actually gets shrinked.
[b]Time Gated Items:[/b] Bungie please! Let ME decide when I play! As a father of a 6 year old girl and working 5 days a week I dont have time to play whenever RNG just happens to pop up the quest in the daily rotation. So no black spindle for me, as the days the quest is up I just dont have the time to play.
[b]Still no LFG system:[/b] As I said, I dont have time to spend hours visiting Facebook, Bungie.net, DestinyLFG or any other 3rd party LFG site to get a team together I have no proof of how it will perform in the raid. I have like 50 PSN friends on my list and that gets me a 1 raid per 2 weeks if I try really hard. Mainly because my working times are concidered to be different from normal in my country.
[b]Rewards:[/b] Last time I played, I was with a struggling team on Oryx. We played 4,5 hours and stopped on Daughters as the team scattered. 2 hours of putting the people together, 4,5 hours of raiding. Thats 6,5 hours of effort.. What was my rewards you may ask? 304 boots and a bunch of shards. RNG system can be so cruel and Bungie claimed they have improved it. Raid drops in general are pretty bad compared what we had in the previous raids.
Raiding should be rewarding experience.
[b]Microtransactions:[/b]
This was just a last nail in the coffin for me. I always have been against games that try and pry more money out of their product by making the player addicted and then starting to cash that addiction in.
In response Bungie havent announced anything about the next DLC. There are too much rumors going around.
Will it be free? And if its free? Is it going to be cheap like free products are?
[b]No point in light 310+:[/b] You released hard raid for us to get over light 310. But for what? to play Hard mode raid? If I land to the moon and kill some dregs as light 260 character, I do it as efficiently as I kill them with light 320 character.. Because the difficulty modifier system is just plain bad. I didnt kill atheon and crota.. Skolas and Oryx just to struggle in a starting area against low level monsters. Where is the sense of character developement here?
[b]Iron Banner[/b] I loved the way how House of Wolves iron banner offered you a new way of reaching the maximum level with the etheric light. It felt rewarding and fun way to get those etheric lights. With TTK iron banner you just murdered the illusion of the rewarding experience grinding a week in PvP tournament.
Now you have light 280 legendary items as a reward for such a special event? I dont know what to say..
[b]The addiction:[/b] From launch to TTK, I played every single day. And when I didnt play, I would pop up the destiny app and see what the forums had to say about daily missions or would they have a new cheese for the lamp section at crota. In general I had to drop a lot of activities to make time for my beloved new hobby, Destiny.
When TTK launched I had a change in work schedule and I slowly started to realize I should probably give some time to the family and friends too. I made the decicion to slow down with destiny and at the same time not knowing about the time gated exotics.
Now I keep destiny at bay. I keep prowling the forums and wait if they launch the next DLC.. And what are the major changes if any to the game. But with confidence I must say Destiny is done for me. It seemed like a game I would play trough the whole 10 year plan.. But it turns out its not.
Without my addiction I have found a lot of things to do with my life!
Its like my eyes would have been opened from a long sleep..

3 Repliesagree so much with what you've said, but I'm still very much enjoying destiny. As a dad who plays with my 12 year old, wish you were on xbox (have a 5 year old too). Would frequently invite you to raid with us. Finding people for the Raid is one of the most frustrating aspects of the game. Our core group usually has no problem getting 3-4 of us on at a time and then we need to 'find' the last two. We've been hit and miss here. At times we have found really helpful and cool people who have become friends. Other times just folks who are really impatient to get it right the first time and give grief at each fail. I don't know that a matchmaking system would do better, but it could make it faster so the fireteam can boot someone not working out and quickly get a replacement.

I share much of the same sentiment, except I quit right before ttk came out. You make a lot of very valid points man. Hopefully the bean counters are taking notes.

I agree with most of this. 3 things for me. I really enjoyed this game all through year one. However: 1) I can't stand infusing gear, I have collected a lot of weapons and armor but I REALLY don't want to spend my time investigating each perk and trying to level up gear. I have level 200 weapons that I'd prefer over the 290+ items but grinding up the 200 one is such a lame exercise and in the meantime I hardly ever get to use the weapons I like best. 2) there are supposedly hundreds of new weapons and yet I get dropped 10-15 of the same hakke auto rifle. The same machine gun ruin wake and pretty much ONLY sidearms. For some reason destiny thinks I love side arms. I've received 2 shot guns. 3) the Kotaku article that discussed how hard it is for destiny to create maps made me realize this game likely has no future. All of the content that has been released was already created when year one shipped (with the possible exception of prison of elders). I jump on here and there to shoot stuff, but I have no real love for the game and everyone I play with has gotten bored.

So much potential with TTK. But ultimately a failure. Boring doing one raid over and over again. At least in the dark below we had two raids. HoW Sucked.

O man u are reading my mind, same here, i quit 1 week ago after complete trial of osiris. Why i quit? Cuz game absolute doesn't make a point play forward. Before TTK i played with No Land Beyond + shotgun, its was so smooth play , i just enjoyed playing everyday on crusible, i closing Osiris every week few times with 3 characters , cuz there was balance , everyone was with thorn, i don't care really, just enjoyed this weapons, real exotics... I been bladedancer and voidwalker from day one, now these overpowered titans, just making me cry, all exotic weapons in pvp is crap, legendary weapons is all same powered and better than exotics, PVP is dead for me, where is SPEAR or LDR snipers , its was so good rifles :( i been always sniper, now from sniping in TTK i just wanna sick....... Last 3 weeks i played just few hours in destiny, now finaly i quit, cuz boring and no point. Now all game is like just about grinding, i understand grinding in MMO, cuz there after hard work u can get something special and nice, here omg i need to spent a lot of hours on simulant or hunting fragments, omg gunsmith lvl 5!!!!! hard raid for what, just for infusing , okey, but why i need spend 200 hours on light lvl 320, for standind in the tower??/? This is not fun guys, fun is Divinity or Fallout, Witcher, any other good game, when u playing and u like it, u are free, but in destiny like a slave, u don't like , but u doing this, for what? Who knows. This is my opinion, its all just about me, srry for english, i know:)

11 RepliesGood for you man. A few Bungie Decisions I do not understand: 1. Time-gated gear. 2. 'unlimited' legendary marks. yea right. 3. Weapon parts and strange coin reduction. 4. Glimmer reduction. 5. Add additional glimmer sinks to the above. 6. 280 gear that requires infusion ..... 7. Serious bugs and broken promises (IB rewards, Crucible rewards, 'unlimited' legendary marks). 8. Hard mode raid fiasco. I haven't even bothered. 9. nerf to rep bonuses. 10. Grind for EVERYTHING. 11. Poor weapon nerfs and boosts. I do not think I will quit ... entirely. But I have deleted my extra characters (made an alt of the same class) and find myself logging in less and less. It feels like the weekly to-do activities are also out of sync. I also feel Bungie is catering to a vocal minority instead of the player base. They also need to stop number crunching and PLAY their own game. I've been playing MMO's since they were text based ... back to ZORK. Bungie is trying too hard to manipulate how we play the game. Just let us play ......

7 RepliesI'm absolutely with you in this question. I never played so little than now. I can't just find any reason for leveling all my three characters and even my main is way below 300. Never done any nightfall after knowing that the rewards sucked (before and after the patch). Never played King's Fall Raid for the same reason and because after VoG nothing as good was ever made by Bungie. Never done any of the quests that have mandatory PvP play as I always hated that kind of game mechanics. I found my self playing less and less, and even when I sometimes play I'm only doing some patrols and the Daily Mission and that's just because I love the great shooter side of Destiny. Since the end of year one the question to myself has always been the same: - Where's the point of the grind if everything is going to be thrown away somewhere in the near future just to start over again, rinse and repeat endless? Why bother so much if there's no feel of progression and achievement that stays with us throughout the whole life cycle of the game? Yes, I will stay connected to Destiny and I'll play it whenever I feel like it, but it will never be the same has it was before. I seriously doubt that Destiny will survive the 10 years life they announced if it continues by this path.

All that's left for me is completing my exotic sword quest(s), NTTE and getting to 320, but both of those require assistance I can no longer get. LFG doesn't even have people looking for Atheon runs anymore so I can get NTTE. At least not the last I checked last week. And I can't stand playing with randoms in raids. Too many douchebags to contend with. I really like the game (though I don't fully understand why as I agree with much of your gripes about the game). Something about it really pleases me though. They just seem to screw up the implementation time and time again. They need to really hire some game developers/decision makers who have EXPERIENCE with the MMO/RPG genre if they want to stay in this space. Otherwise they need to just revert back to a flat out FPS and stay in that space because that's all they really seem to know how to do. At any rate, it's a good thing Halo, COD:BO3, Tomb Raider and Fallout4 have all just come out for me so I have plenty to keep me busy until I get an urge to come back to Destiny. I can't say I'll be back though which pains me to say, a little :(.

3 RepliesTTK ruined an already struggling game and I seriously cut my playing time since the HoW DLC. I'm that cheesed off with what has happened with this game I've not bothered with the TTK raid. Some of my raid team have already defected to other games such as Halo, Tomb Raider and Fallout 4. As Deej said and I paraphrase, it's their game and they can do what they like with it. If that's not saying fcuk you I don't know what is. Without the players the game is nothing.

Couldn't agree more. It's sad because I want to keep playing, but I see no point anymore. The need to fix the drops, and the nightfall at least. How sad it is that they did make big improvements in some regards, but then screw up the rest!

The raid loot tables need to be a set light level. 310 for easy, 320 for hardmode. The drop rates can be tweaked so as to continue the grind based on getting a drop as opposed to getting a drop + light level. Seems like an easy fix. This would motivate me at least to continue grinding out raids weekly. Oh yeah, and take the ability to get x2 shards from oryx off the table. 1 shard I get, but 2 is a slap in the face... Especially given the fact that I had to spend 20 shards to get those glorious 2. Tldr; Static light level raid drops Disable x2 shard drops from oryx

There's nothing in Year 2 that I was excited to get. [b]Raid drops suck[/b] - I've been beating Oryx 3 times every week and there's nothing worse than when you spend hours and get gear weaker than what you already have or even worse absolutely nothing. They said that you were guaranteed a drop from Oryx and that's not always the case. Last week for example, 1st run was good got a 318 helm, 2nd run nothing except my normal drops, and on my third run a 311 ghost shell. No primary weapons at all!!! It sucks that primaries don't have burns but to spend hours in a raid and get nothing is a slap in the face. Open up the drop rate in raids Bungie!!! It's freaking ridiculous. Gear should be higher than your level not significantly weaker. And where's the Vex Mythoclast or Necrocasm for this raid? No special weapon from Oryx is lame!!!

Havnt gotten to where u are quite yet but I'm getting there. More than half the game is rendered useless after Expansion Games make expansions but dont render everything as useless as they made it. End of the day they went a bit extreme on rendering old stuff useless we need year or so of enjoying things before new things. We just had a dlc drop a mere few months ago and all that is gone lol some people never got the new stuff before they took it away if this is how theyre doing things i just cant anymore lol
