You did it Bungie! Im no longer addicted!

A week without playing Destiny has opened my eyes. With TTK destiny got a lot of good things like the new questing system, more interesting bounties.. a whole new patrol area. Strikes that are fun to play and new subclasses that feel fun to play. But with those good things there came things that in the end ruined the game for me and many others I believe. Weapons: You took away our favourite weapons from Y1. Fatebringer, Icebreaker, Black hammer and Gjallarhorn and gave us no choice of ascending the gear we have grown into. Instead, you gave us a bunch of new weapons that dont feel as powerful as Y1 weapons even remotely. You murdered Hand cannons and gave us Hand Cannon lovers no way of practising our trade. I personally have not found a set of new weapons I would feel home at. Lvl 34-40: I went from 34-40 in a one day! In a game where you are forced to grind for gear you get the XP levels for free? XP levels are utterly useless. Just a number which rolls up too quickly. In my opinion this was a huge -blam!- up from bungie.. Levels should have meaning, Levels should be harder to get. Sense of progression and old content: None! All the gear we have grinded was swept useless in a single blow! Bungie does it periodically to keep players grinding for gear. But for what? I dont see the carrot grinding items anymore. After the items have swept clean from our pockets, the old content get rendered useless. The game gets an "expansion" But actually gets shrinked. Time Gated Items: Bungie please! Let ME decide when I play! As a father of a 6 year old girl and working 5 days a week I dont have time to play whenever RNG just happens to pop up the quest in the daily rotation. So no black spindle for me, as the days the quest is up I just dont have the time to play. Still no LFG system: As I said, I dont have time to spend hours visiting Facebook, Bungie.net, DestinyLFG or any other 3rd party LFG site to get a team together I have no proof of how it will perform in the raid. I have like 50 PSN friends on my list and that gets me a 1 raid per 2 weeks if I try really hard. Mainly because my working times are concidered to be different from normal in my country. Rewards: Last time I played, I was with a struggling team on Oryx. We played 4,5 hours and stopped on Daughters as the team scattered. 2 hours of putting the people together, 4,5 hours of raiding. Thats 6,5 hours of effort.. What was my rewards you may ask? 304 boots and a bunch of shards. RNG system can be so cruel and Bungie claimed they have improved it. Raid drops in general are pretty bad compared what we had in the previous raids. Raiding should be rewarding experience. Microtransactions: This was just a last nail in the coffin for me. I always have been against games that try and pry more money out of their product by making the player addicted and then starting to cash that addiction in. In response Bungie havent announced anything about the next DLC. There are too much rumors going around. Will it be free? And if its free? Is it going to be cheap like free products are? No point in light 310+: You released hard raid for us to get over light 310. But for what? to play Hard mode raid? If I land to the moon and kill some dregs as light 260 character, I do it as efficiently as I kill them with light 320 character.. Because the difficulty modifier system is just plain bad. I didnt kill atheon and crota.. Skolas and Oryx just to struggle in a starting area against low level monsters. Where is the sense of character developement here? Iron Banner I loved the way how House of Wolves iron banner offered you a new way of reaching the maximum level with the etheric light. It felt rewarding and fun way to get those etheric lights. With TTK iron banner you just murdered the illusion of the rewarding experience grinding a week in PvP tournament. Now you have light 280 legendary items as a reward for such a special event? I dont know what to say.. The addiction: From launch to TTK, I played every single day. And when I didnt play, I would pop up the destiny app and see what the forums had to say about daily missions or would they have a new cheese for the lamp section at crota. In general I had to drop a lot of activities to make time for my beloved new hobby, Destiny. When TTK launched I had a change in work schedule and I slowly started to realize I should probably give some time to the family and friends too. I made the decicion to slow down with destiny and at the same time not knowing about the time gated exotics. Now I keep destiny at bay. I keep prowling the forums and wait if they launch the next DLC.. And what are the major changes if any to the game. But with confidence I must say Destiny is done for me. It seemed like a game I would play trough the whole 10 year plan.. But it turns out its not. Without my addiction I have found a lot of things to do with my life! Its like my eyes would have been opened from a long sleep..

  • I agree with much of what you have said. However, if you were able to play everyday from launch to TTK why can't you play almost everyday to get items that come up on the daily play list? You invalidated your own statement. I do like getting away from Destiny too.

    • Cod came out with the prestige mode and while playing pvp I felt like I had to prestige at least once after that I'd play to full rank again and then play here and there with friends with destiny I don't even want to hit that "prestige" lvl because it doesn't mean anything I have no God tier weapons or armor cool perks anything I have a lvled up character that still dies by a lvl 28 pack wolves if I goof off there's nothing rewarding in the end game content besides maybe a shader or emblem that says I'm completed its just to much of a commitment for such little reward

    • Wow! Excellent feedback. Did you read my mind before you drafted this? I'm going into maintenance mode tomorrow on PS4. HM KF MAYBE three times a week and that's it. You are correct the HM rewards are crap. Bungie has made really poor decisions, but the absolute worst is giving ToO players 310+ exotics and NOT giving PvE users 310+.

        • I hate how they just make all the old gear useless. Maybe I wanted to keep my VOG armor and my Crota raid armor. Or even my old raid weapons. I heard the new raid primary weapons don't do elemental damage.

How does it take you 2 hrs to organize a raid team? It literally takes 5 mins, simply by posting in the Recruitment section of these forums... A lot of things I agree with here, but your excuse for not raiding is 100% wrong. It's very easy to find groups using the third party sites. Could you imagine how long your "4 hr" raid would take it you used a randomly generated in-game matchmaking system? Try raiding with a full group of scrubs, all the wrong classes, and people with no microphones... Because that's what in-game random matchmaking will get you.

              • Your right. The weapons are mediocre at best and I've been a guardian since the game launched. Took me 7 months of really grinding to get my first jgallahorn. And the grind continued...hopscotch pilgrim...timars lash....high road solder. ...etc.....but now what? I deleted almost all my old stuff. Even my fate bringer cause there now useless. Feel let down by bungee. Shit I'm a 316 light and was killed by the group of dregs in the cosmodrome. Lol like really. How is that even possible. I should be a ducking demi god to them. Like when we were low levels and encountered higher level enemy's and there level was "???". That should go both ways bungie.you team still has a lot of Shit that needs fixing. And yes the addiction is subsiding.thats for ducking up one of the best games I've ever played. :). GG

                • I'm with you. TTK had big improvements but the on thing I was discouraged the most was the weapons. I hate the fact that I can't use my beloved weapons from Y1. Many people don't care about variety like myself. I would be one of those that would use Fatebringer till the end of time for example. Some love variety and hate using the same weapons and that's respectable too. Where is the balance Bungie? Why not give every player the choice? Whoever wants to use a Y1 weapon should be able to and anyone that wants to use a Y2 weapon should be able to without restrictions on light or levels. That's the big disappointment for me. Also ruining the PvE side of the weapons thanks to PvP is a big slap to the face too. I don't like the new weapons except the swords because they are cool. I'm a hand cannon person (for PvE) and they are a piece of trash now. Why can't Bungie really balance weapons? Why can't they make hand cannons just as good as pulse rifles and viceversa? I don't get it...why they have to either make hand cannons too op over pulse rifles or pulse rifles too op over hand cannons (just to give example)? WHY??? PvE wise weapons are not special to me anymore. I can't find a true setup that I can fall in love with. I play the shit out of this game and I'm about to hit 3000 hours into destiny. I'm addicted to the game and even with its flaws I've been faithful to Destiny. But the way this are going and specially the weapons I really want to cut the addiction. I don't want to be addicted anymore. I play everyday even up to today and tomorrow but I want to quit...as for now I'm too addicted to quit but I really want to quit...lol. I'm buying Fallout 4 because I'm addicted Fallout fan and I wish that game has a lot of content so that I can cut Destiny's addiction. I will play destiny to do the Raid and nightfalls on three characters but after that I'm getting on Fallout 4. I can't wait for that game! I just hope I can let destiny go soon...I really hope so. I bet once I don't play it as often I'll feel liberated. I love destiny and I would've loved to be addicted forever but certain things have been too crap to continue to be addicted to Destiny, in my case the weapons mostly besides other minor hiccups the game still has.

                  • Interestingly enough, the first time I quit playing Destiny (last year around this time, when all the other great games come out), I had a similar experience. I booted up Shadow of Mordor, and the next thing I knew, I was saying, "you know what, I'm glad I'm not grinding Destiny every day." I definitely think that the lack of any form of team-finding/matchmaking/lfg/etc. in-game hurts it for a lot of people. I don't have enough people on my friends list or time to do LFG each night, so I can't raid during the week, really. If I could, I would feel like I had a lot more to do in the game (at least until I got fed up with getting mouldering shards constantly). But the biggest thing really is the amount of grinding you need to do. I understand that this is the type of game I signed up for, but it's definitely one of those things where when you stop for a breather, you realize that it's really fun to occasionally play other games for which there isn't the same amount of grind.

                  • I'm not going to buy BlOps3 until Black Friday, but I'm pretty sure when I do my time with destiny will diminish greatly. I'm tired of Bungie treating their players like children, and I think it's about time I stop tolerating it. If they want to try to force me to play longer, then I will not play at all. I know, I know, I can play more than one game at once, but truth be told I'm a junior in college and I really shouldn't be playing games at all. So I really can only play one game at a time, or rather, I prefer to.

I totally agree with you. Destiny has become my hobby and addiction. I've been contemplating dropping this bad habit for months now. It really is a waste of time. When I finally get a new exotic or reach a new light level I think it will be satisfying and I will some how feel like I've accomplished something. Well that's not the case. I feel like I just wasted "days" (not hours) of my life. For what? A time gated weapon that I won't use? One light level higher, or Bragging rights? I don't feel satisfied with anything in Destiny anymore. Bungie said that they improved the "grind". Now that TTK is here we can see that they made the grind much, much worse that it was in Year 1. Top that with taking away the weapons that we spent so much time grinding to get in Year 1 and all of the ridiculous nerfs that they constantly make, this game has become such a disappointment.

                    • You are correct on almost everything, Ace of Spades is still fun though. Every other raid and PoE seemed to reward you with something worth grinding for, Found Verdict, Oversoul, Pradeth's Revenge and many others I can't spell. If a new guardian starts Destiny and would have 3 raids, PoE, ToO and Crucible to choose from, all with usefull rewards that can be used in todays game, they would have something to keep them occupied for a while. Also, if everyone is so afraid of Fatebringer, Bungie could make an even better gun to make use grind for to replace it.

                      • I felt the same way. I felt the need to at least get legendary marks when I was completely bored with the game then I just erased everything because I got tired if doing the same things every single time for no reward. I don't miss the game in the slightest. I feel bad for those on the hamster wheel. Grinding for nothing and putting more money into this useless game.

                      • Leveling up meant nothing. The new system that ties light level to a horrible RNG has turned the game into a joyless grind. The hamster wheel of disappointment.
