That's actually not what I'm saying at all, and is such an overused and stale argument that I'm not even going down that path with you. You have to be able to think more critically than that, please. Don't go to lowest common denominator...

  • Wow, the law of Parsimony allows you to deflect? Nice try. Occam's Razor suggests quite simply that Deej is an ass and an amateur and those like him are most likely to forgive it. Let's go one step further since you went there? Occam's Razor leads us to conclude, perhaps falsely but more than likely, that a lot of the people taking issue to the OP and his supporters don't: A) Understand much (if anything) about PR or customer management and are completely unqualified to offer opinion - and shouldn't. B) Have very limited education, cause the rule of STFU till you know better doesn't appear nor is it parsed with charming segues like 'I don't know much but..', C) Are in fact the 'feelers' here cause God knows, no thought or respect for thought, let alone best practices went in their 1/4 second reflection. D) Are the crowd with the least respect and most arrogance cause why else weigh in when they have nothing but unqualified opinion, based exclusively feelings? An alarming percentage of this country have no qualification, credential, experience or genius and insufficient respect, patience or humility to get there and yet, they still act like they alone 'get it'.

  • The Occam's razor comment was a shitty answer I gave to a stupid lowest common denominator argument about the fact that I was being offered no alternative answer, to be fair tone is hard to convey/read in text but I already dealt with that below. The part about it being obvious deej is bad at his job is nonsensical - unless you are claiming to know more about the job of a PR rep in a large successful company than said rep and his employers. As for deej's tone, why should he not respond In any way he thinks is funny? I found it funny too (very slightly, but the reaction has brought me more joy than eating candy) , and that has been the way the weekly update has been written for a long time.

  • I am in PR, crisis and executive management but that need not be the qualification. A first year student would know better. In fact, [u]any credible customer service specialist[/u] would know better and [u]throughout this thread capable business and service people[/u] at all levels have addressed both how egregious the mistake is and what the normal outcome would be (ie termination with cause). You want him to be cheeky? Then he can try film or comedy. No one and I mean that - [u]no one professional agrees[/u] with your assessment and hasn't - in the history or relations or service. Don't assume that just because someone has a public job at a significant corporation, that they are competent or professional. I have seen $5 million/yr execs screw up freshmen issues (then costing billions) and I have seen $30k service reps make calls that earn nationally renown. Deej is not only a disaster, he is one of the worst voices in PR today and I have given speeches citing his blunders to the laughter of now thousands attending.

  • Hah, I'm not even out of university, what pay grade? Why does money suddenly come into it? I realised a while ago that it was easier to sound smart on the Internet, or like, use big words. Then I realised it is better to try and provide information accessibly.

    I agree wholeheartedly. Sadly you will be trolled. Just take solace in the fact that you are right and there are others that think like you. Anybody that agrees a Community Manager should be allowed to talk to the Destiny Community like DeeJ does, is not qualified to offer an opinion.     Thank you. I don't care if get trolled, its past time to take back the conversations and force the trolls back under the bridge till they can adopt the social contractz Deej included. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Deej is not simply awful at his work, he's a disaster in any public facing role. This shouldn't be debatable. Professionally, its not. Cheers and thanks again.
