Terrible metaphor. Even if bungie continues to sell dlc & cosmetics through silver, how is that abusing their consumers?

 • Its like gambling in some way. Most people don't get trapped, or drawn in Its the 1% that do that is the problem. Those people will unknowingly spend hundreds and thousands on these microtransactions because they are there.. And instead of implementing a block or secondary verification method, they make it REALLY easy to buy silver with a few buttons and spend a ton of money on totally useless shit Exploiting addictive personalities for monetary gain through microtransactions is a very abusive and sketchy model.

 • Also the most you can spend on silver at once is $20, so there's no way people can "unknowingly" spend a large amount on it

 • How about the multiple posts of "I spent $200-600 on the blue mask" Yeah, you lose track after a while

 • That's not bungie's fault, nor is it their problem. They're a business, not our mothers. They don't have to put a cap on how many $20 packages a player DECIDES to spend on cosmetics. Those people need to get help if the purchase negatively affected them.

 •
They're a business, not our mothers.
K. So businesses don't have to have any sort of ethics? Whatever they can get away with, is a okay? Why would you ever support this?

 • I'm not supporting it. I haven't bought silver, & I probably never will. I'm defending it because it's a way for them to make money that doesn't punish me for not supporting, & too many people on these forums are acting like it's the worst thing that's ever happened. Like the op comparing it to an abusive relationship. People need to get a grip on reality.

 • So it's on the businesses to refuse to sell to people with addictive personalities? Idk where you're from, but I live in America, & we somewhat value personal responsibility.

 • It's like exploiting a child's trust. Just because you're able to manipulate their little minds doesn't mean it's right at all! It's the reason why 18 is the legal consent of sex because PEOPLE CAN MANIPULATE THEM. How the -blam!- is the response this is Mercia make it right?

 • Sorry I wasn't clear. I'm not saying it's right because this is america. I'm saying bungie is making new cosmetics & charging for them, & there is nothing wrong with that. You can't demonize them for not doing something kotaku said they would.

 • And no, its about not having them strictly paid for. If they had alternative methods of gaining silver, sure, then it's their fault. But nope. Its strictly paid for. Its on Bungie for that.

 • Last I checked, players can get masks by killing stuff for candy. I could be wrong though. Honestly I haven't done it, because I don't care about cosmetics at all.

 • I am. We've always paid for dlc in lieu of a subscription fee. How is adding optional cosmetics abusing the player base? Are you saying if they don't make new cosmetic items for free, we're being abused?

 • do you not realize how utterly ridiculous it is that you are on an online forum crying about a video game? if you dont want the silver, dont buy it, i do and have disposable income, so i will buy it and whatever else i want, seeing as its my money. id pay $200 for Vanilla Destiny over ever spending $60 on Evolve again, we get it, your butthurt a company is doing its sole job as an entity, to make money.

 •
if you dont want the silver, dont buy it, i do and have disposable income, so i will buy it and whatever else i want, seeing as its my money.
This is about the PRINCIPLE, not the money. So many people have acted like people are against microtransactions from a financial point of view. Not at all. What was the festival of the lost? A piece of shitty content added into the game for Bungie to rip off everyone they could. It had nothing to do with anything other than making money, THERE is the issue. I don't want to be locked in a battle against the developer, I don't want them to be doing everything they can to pressure me into spending money on this bullshit. Not because I can't afford it, but because the principle of what they are doing is wrong, and I definitely don't want this to become the norm of all video games.

 • I feel like people like this are the "Counter-culture" idiots. He's just going to say whatever is against how you feel to try and get you riled up and upset, but he really has no personal feelings about it.
