This community is a battered wife and Bungie is the abusive husband....

Before I get started for those of you who are not aware I regret to inform you that Gamespot released an article today covering the future of DLC content in Destiny. This is a direct quote from the article.
Destiny's microtransactions and paid expansions are both selling well, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said on an earnings call today, November 3. As such, Destiny players can expect to see more of both in the future.
So the microtransactions....the microtransactions that were supposedly implemented to fund future content is going to stay....but we will all still have to fork out money for DLC. Yet there is very little outrage over this prime example of consumer abuse. So that brings me back to my analogy. The Kotaku article sheds light on the fact that Bungie and Activision cut up Vanilla Destiny to be sold separately. The forums barely bat an eye. The article shows that not only was the game cut up, but that it was cut up for the sole purpose of being sold separately at a premium just so they could squeeze more money out of us. Any normal community would have been up in arms over such a revelation. The torches and pitchforks would be lit and the forums would have burned to the ground. But no. Not this community. You all just shrugged and kept moving forward. Oh well. Its not Bungie's fault. Its all Activision. Bungie loves us and wants to be good to us they just can't. So I am just gonna keep playing and hope it gets better. I know Bungie can change. I kry errytim. Microtransactions are introduced into a game that most of us have paid over $120 for Once again mild outrage from a handful of players, but overall this community just rolls over and takes it in the ass with pleasure. Thank you Bungie senpai for this great gift. They cut content and set it aside to be sold separately at a premium YET AGAIN and no one seems to really care. Some even naively believe that the microtransactions would lead to free DLC in the future. The rest of you all just shrug and then say well its not Bungie's fault. Its cl;early just Activision. Bungie wants to love us and be good to us, but they just can't. So I am gonna keep playing and hope it gets better. I know Bungie can change. I kry errytim Every misstep and every abuse is almost immediately forgiven and shoved aside in favor of blind hope and naive support. Each and every time they abuse or take advantage of the community you all just shrug and make excuses for them. You say its not their fault or that its just how the game business works. Or that they HAVE to make money somehow right? NO OTHER GAME WORKS LIKE DESTINY DOES AND NO OTHER GAME HAS TROUBLE MAKING MONEY. PLENTY OF GAMES MAKE PLENTY OF MONEY AND STILL DON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR PLAYERBASE. Witcher 3 for example released over a dozen FREE DLC packs and their entire season pass was $25. The latest DLC called "Hearts of Stone" got a better review score than ANY of the Destiny content that has been released and yet it only costs $10. Bethesda is another prime example. They have released games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim all to critical and FINANCIAL success. They released quality DLC for a fair price and they made a FORTUNE. Bioware released Mass Effect 3 with quality DLC for a fair price and even threw in FREE multiplayer DLC packs every month or so. Yet it was the most financially successful game in the franchise. You people need to wake the -blam!- up and look around you. Look at all the games that have been released since Destiny launched and look at how many have used the kind of underhanded tactics that has been used with Destiny. Stop using "Business" as an excuse as if it alleviates ALL abuses. Stop using your hours played as an excuse as if you are in too deep to be treated with respect. Stop shrugging your -blam!-ing shoulders as if there is nothing you can do. Stop acting like there is nothing wrong. Stop acting like Bungie owns your -blam!-ing dignity and self respect just because you happen to like the game. And for the love of god stop forgiving them every single time they decide to abuse your trust as a consumer. You are just like a battered wife that loves her husband too much to realize that he is a steaming pile of abusive shit and that you can do BETTER for yourself and that you DESERVE to be treated better. For -blam!- sake.

I made a similar analogy months ago. I still enjoy this game very much, but after all of this nonsense, I have zero respect for them and their disingenuous, intentionally manipulative, dishonest, and disrespectful practices. I refuse to even spend the "free" silver, and I look forward eagerly to Fallout 4. Destiny will remain one of my longest played and most enjoyed games, but it's too bad that BungieVision is more focused on building an addictive Skinner box than doing right by their customers. If Destiny were done right, it likely would have been the best game of all time.

      • Dude, Bungie has TWO community managers. Someone's gotta pay those salaries. Lol, as I was typing this, I was struck by the irony: the more we complain on here = more community managers needed to actively "work" these forums = more wallet-grabbing methods to pay for it.

      • If bungie announces a new dlc I will most definitely NOT be buying it bungie said that everything in TTK was going to make the game better but how is this new light system any better than the old one, how is nerfing coin/weapon parts going to reduce the grind in any way I just got to face facts Bungie can talk the talk but they are unable to walk the walk

        • Just to add to the discussion: I think the reduction of circulating weapon parts was a slap to the face. There wasn't really an explanation or a warning. They just decided to implement it.

          • Right on. Thumbs up. Hey, the people who are shelling out for silver and never offer critique? That's who can wreck the game and hinder progress. But, what do I know. In the end it's just a game. Hurts to see all the potential sort of wasted or at the very least not realized yet.

          • Again with Kotaku articles. You do realize they are like the tabloids of gaming journalism, right? They take quotes and turn them into whatever they want them to mean. They made an entire article, not this one, that just said "we got a source that's totally anonymous, but I swear they're real" and people ate it up. What that quote could actually mean is that they will continue to do main game, dlc expansion like ttk, main game, and on. It's unclear what it actually means and to naturally assume that a fear mongering moronic website such as Kotaku is actually accurate is just silly. I'm in no way saying that they are wrong, but I'm just saying you need to consider that site's history and realize they will do whatever for just a few more clicks. They are just like bdobbins and angry Joe. Spout out bs and half truths to get people riled up and giving them views.

ha, flaming is at an all time low and you wanna know why? A great many quietly moved to H5 with its dedicated servers fun pvp and upcoming FORGE. (sure the story sucks and there's microtransactions but luckily destiny already broke them in for both already) mosey over to H5 forums, you'll see lots and lots of familiar faces flaming each other. great times. Anyway you gotta move on sooner or later. xxx game did not kill Destiny. Bungie did. the end.

I love your name. glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels this way stark. alot of players do. but it won't matter, I tryed again and again to convice people not to buy emotes because the more they buy the more content they will put behind paywalls. dlc comes down to a choice at the end of the night. pay up or miss out. -blam!- everyone else and who cares as long as they get what they want.

            • You are speaking to a bunch of window lickers that cannot think for themselves. There is no gray area with them it is either black or white. "Destiny is the greatest game ever and any and all valid feedback will be ignored!" I have played a ton of Destiny since release and purchased the Digital Guardian Edition which included the first two DLC's. It is amazing how many people blantanly overlook Bungie's shady -blam!-ing tactics. I have never played at game that created DLC that actually never expanded upon anything. In each DLC we get maybe 1 or 2 new areas that involve a single mission and that is it. The rest are played on Vanilla content. Yet Bungie plays it off like creating new content and patches is so damn hard. I really wish we were able to get insight into Bungie's daily work routine. What the -blam!- does Deej and Cozmo do all day? They have the best and easiest jobs in the world. They ignore valid questions and continue with the hype train of the next DLC. I know developing a game isn't easy but it isn't like Bungie doesn't have the resources to constantly update the game with new content. They have what 600 employees and somehow the content seems half-assed and not tested. Had they tested Thorn, the high impact shotguns, FR snipers, Fusion rifles, OG Vex and Suros prior to releasing them the game would've been instantly better. The quest system is an improvement but the quests fail miserably. Look at NTTE and SS quest lines for obvious examples. Not to mention that many people think time played = money well spent. THE ONLY REASON WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME PLAYING IS BECAUSE BUNGIE HAS PUT MEASURES INTO PLACE TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE PLAY TIME. This isn't opinion, this is a fact. Why would they nerf weapon parts, MoL, Strange Coins, Armor Materials, and many of the other materials if not to increase your playtime. They hide behind the RNG loot system as a way to give all players a fair chance yet that creates the most unfair circumstances. Not to mention it once again increases playtime because everything is random. The most frustrating thing about Destiny is the intial hype surrounding it. I had a group of buddies that all bought the DG edition because we were so hyped after playing BF4. They all quit within the first month because of how shitty this game was and still is. Destiny could've been one of if not the greatest game of all time. We were advertised a Skyrim type game with Halo style FPS mechanics. They delivered with the gameplay but failed miserably with everything else. The worlds are small and feel dead, the characters are lifeless and could all die with no real affect on the game.

              • Yah, I'm pretty much done with Destiny. I won't be "buying" anymore content - there really isn't enough meat left on the bone to keep me around like I was. My addiction with this game has been broken and I can finally see though the BS ... it's sad, because this game had so much potential - yet Bungie and Activision continue to fail to recognize what needs to be done.

I agree that BungieVision's business practices have been very scammy since day 1. However, I do not agree that their hasn't been a good amount of outrage. Year 1 forums were filled with disdain for cut content and an obviously incomplete game and pre-purchased DLC. The only reason you don't see as much now is that most disgruntled players have packed up and moved on leaving the fans to dominate the forums. Destiny still gets r@ped in most game critic sites though due in large part to how BungieVision took advantage of year 1 content. There's a reason they are fleecing the remaining players and likely will continue to do so: they need the revenue to make up for a lot of lost players ... players who likely will not return and can't really be replaced due to the abysmal reviews this game has gotten since its release.

Bungie had a starting budget of 500 mil, they spent 200 mil making the base game... The base game without any dlc (how it was originally suppose to lunch) was suppose to be 60 dollars for everything now this was planned to be enough profit for bungie to keep on going for the rest of the destiny games But now bungivion has managed to cut the base game into pieces and sell it to us for twice the price, I just want you to note that this isn't done yet there are still two more dlcs coming that were cut from the base game. Taking all of this into account they sucked 3 times the money that we were suppose to pay originally out of us Lest also not forget all of the money that bungie has made with the microtransactions.
im just gonna give you a second to take all of this in

i love destiny and I will play every game but this is just a little rediculous
Did you actually think that micro transactions were going to find future DLC? Bungie specifically stated that micro transactions were going to help expand their live team. The live team has nothing to do with development of the content we've seen in past DLC.

If you don't like it then leave . Jesus you're acting like they're forcing you to play it in a detention centre or something . Destiny is a great game with its flaws . Activision is usually the ones responsible for cash grab strategies . All in all ttk was a great expansion and Im still getting my money's worth from it .
