Saladin is, as far as we know, the last surviving Iron Lord. He was possibly the previous Titan Vanguard. His two protégés, Zavala and Shaxx, helped him defend the City during Twilight Gap. Shaxx and Saladin had a major falling out, and now Saladin runs an "elite" version of Shaxx's Crucible to further home Guardian abilities
