I've done it both ways and neither one is easier then the other. There is plenty that can go wrong with the "cheese" method, and thus can take as long or longer to complete. People will defend the way they did it because it's not easy. And people who did it the "right" way want to feel like a special snowflake so they will cry cheese. Fact is, we decided as a community that killing the ogres and stacking up in the middle then running out to the bombs, was the way it was meant to be done. But the raid came with no instructions outside of defeat Oryx, so however your method is your own legit strategy.

  • This How can you say any way is the right way?? It's just the way that was done first and continued to be done.

  • While they do not give you directions, Bungie implements mechanics to force you to do things. For example, during Oryx's artillery/bomb phase, is there an option to run around or not? No, we have to run around platforms or find out own pathway until it is over, or we die and cause a wipe. We have no option to do it how we want to do it. Now, why would Bungie implement a mechanic which we can just bypass? Was Crota's bridge mechanic a cheese? Have one person get across and the rest wipe, warlocks self-res and kill ogres from other side? Everything done is within the parameters of the game. Cheese for sure. This one is pretty good, because some people can't defend a sync plate for the life of them. Another example I mentioned was Skolas by burning him and 'delaying' mines until after Skolas' death. Bungie felt they had to address this within 2 weeks. These are all cheeses. Believe me, if there was a crota-type glitch where you could keep his chest open the whole time and we just stood there with malices for 6 minutes, I'd be the first to do it. Why? Because it saves me time, and it's a freaking game. There is another parallel which we can draw from Crota that Bungie acknowledged as a good strategy also. Remember the titan bubble/boomer method? This strategy bypassed the wizard mechanic which occurred after the boomer knights were taken down. However, this method took enough teamwork and communication for Bungie to just say, well, hey, they're drawing knights aggro, that's smart, that or changing the entire system of how enemies are aggro'ed is too great a task, I tend to think it's the latter. I feel like whether or not Bungie will address this 'no knight cheese' will depend on the completion numbers. It still requires an immense amount of focus and teamwork to get it done. If we use other raids and activities that Bungie has put out as what is considered the 'right way' or what is 'intended', we have a myriad of examples of when Bungie felt it was appropriate to modify the encounter to shift the way the guardians complete it. Of course Bungie wanted you to deal with mines, knights, wizards. They are the addition that makes this 'hard', otherwise the only changes would be no res and underleveled. Of course, if one method is fixed or changed, we guardians will adapt and find another new easy method to the madness. Since we guardians are capable of amazing feats.
