I think this is a strategy, and tried it, but I've beat it on 2 of my characters and did it the way it was intended. We couldn't get this down though. But if your team is all 310+ it's just as easy to kill the light eaters and not have to worry about it. And plus my ogre at my totem wanted to go to where you spawn in every time so it was just irritating haha.
