It did matter because if you were playing with a group of people, they get aggravated that you are not using a primary with a burn.
I enjoy being free to use Red Death on a strike or in the raid. Once primaries with burns come, guns like Red Death, Jade Rabbit etc. become PVP only because everyone will expect you to use an elemental primary.

So basically you let others bully you in to using correct burners. Nightfalls haven't changed and neither have secondary or heavy weapons so they will continue to get aggravated at your red death when your fusion will do better. Burns in pvp do nothing as far as i know and if thts your only defense this conversation is pointless because i dont pvp.
