I think that doing it on Heroic difficulty gives a better chance for strike-specific gear. Just by running heroic strikes I've gotten Taniks Cloak, Darkblade Helm, Tread Upon Stars, and the fusion rifle from the Darkblade as well. And I don't run very many heroic strikes.

Ive gotten those gauntlets and the flayer cape, treads(shit roll) and the lmg from taniks all on heroic. I think you're right about the higher drop rates.
