82 times, Bungie. 82 freaking times.
As the title reads, I've run the Shield Brothers strike 82 while chasing those damn unique gauntlets and 82 times I've come up NOTHING. What's even more discouraging is that I've read on threads here and other sites that people have run it in excess of 125 times and come up with nothing as well. Whether or not you think they're stylish, I personally like the look of them and therefore want my Titan to sport them. :)
Now, before the masses decided to impart their "wisdom" know that one, this isn't a "screw you, Bungie!" post; I'm honestly just curious as to other peoples success rates, or lack thereof, when farming these items. Two, I KNOW, as you should know and/or learn now while reading, that these unique boss drops ARE NOT tied to the Legendary loot table of Strikes; they're on their own drop percentage so please don't say, "Do strikes for the buff to increase your chances!" because that is false. You should also know, as I recently found out, that you don't have to kill Big Red or Big Blue first/second. Again, I know it's all RNG but still.
Anyhow, rant and rant alike, anyone else out there farming these gauntlets and coming up short? Flayer capes? Darkblade Helm? How many times did it take you to get yours and/or how many times have you run a certain Strike?

115 times and still nothing. Tried running it on my hunter for a change of pace, though. It's at least a little more fun now.
Do people even READ the post before commenting?
Bungie really needs to add a penalty for bailing on a Strike. I lost count of how many times people flaked after getting the fragment.

I'm sorry that it's "taken" (lulz) you so long but that's what I love about those items. You actually have to grind for them. Takes me back to my days as Brick or Maya in the Borderlands series.

2 RepliesI think we all have our strike unicorns - at least, those of us who have a life, ha-ha. I got the Warlock SABER helmet on my very first run - didn't even know what it was, hahaha! My son got the shield brothers Titan gauntlets in the same way. My unicorns are the Grasp of Malok and Treads Upon Stars - I can't get them to drop for anything, and I've prayed to every deity within listening range.

I think iv ran the strike at total of 12 times and i got the arms for the titian

They're ass tho. I guess they're cool on next gen (really current gen by now), but I got them to drop and dismantled them. No cool effect since I'm a peasant that can't afford a new console, no unique perks despite it being a unique pair of gauntlets, and only dropped at 283. Ew. But hey chase what you want, I still haven't got Taniks cloak or a single flayer cloak on my hunter, and that's my main. RNGsus is a cold, unforgiving deity.

2 RepliesBro Listen to me. I have run that strike over 100+ times since launch. I have watched all my friends get it and not even want it. I denied myself Iron Banner, Raid, my other two characters and dailies, so I can spend what little time I had to farm for the Maulers. Last night, while pulling an all nighter, the last strike I did, which you should be able to see, I finally got the Maulers. You can only imagine the feeling I had when I walked over that purple, and the game displayed what that purple drop was. I felt like I was released from a prison. You have to keep trying. Keep playing the strke, and you will get them at some point. The key is to never give up, because if I gave up after that 100th run, I would never have them at this point. Good luck, Guardian.

I haven't gotten one single strike specific drop. At all. Not one. And I often grind strikes for orbs and three of coins. I've stopped thinking they would drop for me.......

1 ReplyAt least you're matchmaking into teams. I try selecting either strike from the Director and it just loads it with only me. I can do it, yes, but goddamn would at least one teammate make it so much faster.

Me and my friends have been running nightfall this past week constantly since its dust palace, been almost this full week and we're still missing some flayer hoods, I need red, one friend needs blue, another still needs all 3. It's kinda disheartening, and made more annoying being the nightfall but it's better than having to run the valus ta-aruc mission 18 times before we get the dust palace.

I only have the Cabal scout rifle, Vex hand cannon, and solar Flayer cape. I have no luck getting anything else though. I can't complain too much; I have only run maybe ten strikes for each type to get what I have now.

I have gotten 3 flayers cloaks in about 10 or so flayers.. Not trying for them either.

Example ever since the Lich King raid released in wow, people grinding for Invincible are still doing it now. Just hope to God, that the items you want are not 0.2% drop.

I ran it a couple times got 2 pairs. I didn't like the looks, I dismantled them.

1 ReplyAre you only doing the strikes on a titan. I'm not sure if this means anything, but so far I got all of my strike armor for a different class than the one I was using at the time. I've gotten the saber helmet on my hunter and titan, the undying mark on my hunter, and a flayer cloak on my Titan.

I've gotten them twice, and have run the strike about 20 times. However, that darkblade helm I've been grinding everyday since October and have only gotten a used crayon... I cri evritiem

Three drops. Only kept one If it makes you feel better I main a warlock and have literally every strike drop except the helmet and the omnigul bond :(
