The Cabal ship on the dreadnaught is so depressing

There is something about the atmosphere of the Cabal shipwreck on the Dreadnought that I find horribly depressing whenever I go inside or even have to pass by. I just find the struggling Cabal hold-outs, fighting their lonely, desperate rear-guard action against this overwhelming force of alien Hive, sad. I felt bad that I had to run through their ship killing their retreating troops as they were being overrun by the Taken anyway. It felt like being a bully, piling on to a helpless, defenseless child in the school yard. It was especially hard for me to see some of the major Colossus in those missions where you go into the ship, trying to keep the shit together with the swarming Taken after we've already killed all the Cabal leadership that led the attack on the Dreadnought. I felt more emotion from playing that mission than anything else in this entire game. I've always found the Cabal to be the most interesting enemy. The Hive and Fallen are just animals, and the Vex are clockwork machines with no souls. Why must we kill them still? I also don't buy the reason we had to kill the Shield Brothers in that strike, that is BS, we didn't lift a finger when the Awoken tried to blow up the Dreadnought earlier, but we try to stop the Cabal from doing so? I don't buy it. I'd wear a shield and stand next to my brother Siege Dancers, Sand Eaters and Sky Burners any day.

I used to call the Cabal tubby-bears Pre-TTK. Now, I treat them with a little more respect. The Fallen were seemingly animals till House of Wolves changed everything. The Eliksini lore was brilliant. Some of the Skolas cards were amazing, and it was just nice to know a bit more about them, like we had already begun to gather from the Vex (Vault of Glass and the Black Garden, excluding Praedyth), and the Hive (Crota at that point, and TTK now). The Cabal finally have some background which is great. I actually felt the urge to grant mercy to them on Phobos. That first level when the Legionary crawls and dies infront of you as the Skyburners base explodes... damn. Dantallion Exodus VI on the Dreadnought, Primus Ta'aun, and the Ghost Fragments add to this. Seeing the Cabal desperately fighting against an 'unstoppable' foe was sad. Seeing the Primus being Taken wasn't too bad till you read the background that he had with the Bond Brothers. I'd go into more detail, but I strongly advise reading the Ghost Fragments you can find on Phobos. I will spoil one thing however:
They crashed their ship into the Dreadnought as they believed they would be able to find the way the Hive permanantly kill Guardians, as Crota and his disciples had slayed the Guardians on the Moon and Eris' Fireteam in his Netherworld.
