5/node and 10/infusion is not that much, especially in comparison to some Y1 weapons with 5 damage upgrades, along with perks and talents. You can also maximize the per weapon drop rate for parts by putting XP into guns (and not purchasing the nodes) you plan to dismantle. Even putting in half the total required XP will give you a chance at a couple more parts.
