The numbers are only confusing when taken out of context, and you don't understand how people actually play the game.
There are two kinds of players.
Players who look at weapons until they find ONE (or a few) comfortable loadouts....that they then used for the vast majority of fights. They are the ones who end up accumulating lots of weapons parts. Becuase they CHOOSE not to use them for the intended purpose: upgrading gear.
Then there are players like me, who like to try----and use----a variety of weapons Amassing an arsenal, that they then CHOOSE the right loadout from based on the kind of fight they're walking into. WE----IN THIS NEW SYSTEM-----ARE GOING THROUGH A MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF WEAPON PARTS.
Because----after the parts nerf-----you are looking at having to dismantle between 7-15 rare weapons in order to fully upgrade ONE legendary weapon. Want to infuse it? You're looking at dismantling between 5-10 rare weapons.
Exotics are even worse. You may be looking at dismantling 30 or more weapons to fully upgrade ONE exotic....and (again) having to dismantle 5-10 weapons for every infusion.
Its insane. Unless you're just going to grind this game endlessly, weapons just don't drop fast enough or frequently enough to support those kinds of consumption rates if a player wants to keep a variety of weapons end-game relevant.
THAT is why so many players-----myself included----are desperately in need of weapon parts. Throw in reforging under HoWs...and I've been scrounging for parts now for the better part of six months....and I'm getting tired of it.
