If it's a complete waste of time, then why would you keep playing it? Obviously, you are completing night falls because there is something to gain from it.
There are some of us who farmed VoG for months for our final armor piece to hit level 30. Like it or not, grinding is a mechanic of this game.
Let's not forget what Nightfall rewards used to be. 3 to ten Ascendent Shards/Energy on all three characters for weeks at a time.
You year 2 babies have no idea how it used to be when it was actually a struggle to gear up.

At least back when you got 3 - 10 ascendant materials they were of genuine use, not to mention you got more XP and experience for the rest of week along with marks. Open your eyes, it's the worst it's ever been. Explain to me what there is to gain from doing a weekly activity that no longer rewards extra XP, marks and provides a consumable you can buy from a vendor?
