Wade was right of course, there was little to no cover and they had no idea what was out there. She moved along a few paces behind him, high on alert, her steps mere taps on the ground. he's surprisingly quiet for a titan she thought with an amused grin.

Finally they reached the area that the sensor should have been at. Thank god Wade thought as he pulled a small toolbox from his bag. He didn't like the situation one bit. All out combat and chaos is where he excels at, but this game of getting stalked made him anxious. She's probably enjoying this he thought to himself as he turned the flashlight on his helmet on. "What the -" he started, but as soon as he said those words, he saw rapid movement on his left, then on his right. "Artemis... " he whispered as all of the sudden BAM... everything went dark.

  • She had been keeping watch as they reached the sensor coordinates, the girls hands at the hilts of her daggers. A sudden movement caught her attention on the left, a blur of motion to the right. She heard her name and before she knew it Wade was out cold. Slipping into action, she unsheathed her knives, lowering herself into a well practiced stance. She could hear the familiar hum of two active cloaks and the crackle of electricity from familiar shock daggers. Her eyes immediately went to the ground, a footfall causing a puddle to ripple. She threw a knife in the direction, a soft pop emitting into the air as the vandal she had targeted plummeted to the ground. Again she looked to the ground for the whereabouts for the other, but the hum was too close and she felt the air around her buzz. Swiftly she put up a block for the second vandal, their blades clashing. With a free hand she grabbed another knife, twirling it expertly and digging the metal through its jaw. somethings not right she thought, looking over to the titan. Emerald eyes went wide and she lunged forward, tackling a fallen captain in its midsection yo the muddied ground. Her white and gold armor quickly became consumed by the mud the heavy downpour had caused as she wrestled with the Captain. "Wade!"

He came to with a sharp, long inhale. Holy -blam!-. The strike didn't give him any time to prepare. His ears were ringing, pain jolted across his temple. He felt the rain on his face, Son of a bitch must have craked my helmet. He was trying to get his bearings, but his head was fussing, he couldn't think straight. Just then he heard a familiar voice "Wade!". Immediately his brain sharpened as he staggered to get up. He saw her, wrestling with the Captain. She was terribly out matched, the Captain was strong and was now laying on top of her. His head was still hurting and he had problems just trying to stay upright. He took off his now cracked helmet and whistled at the Captain. It turned, and as it did, Wade threw his helmet, hitting it directly in the face. As it staggered, he saw his chance and tackled it. They rolled on the ground, but the Captain, still the stronger one, flipped it self on the top. Wade could have sworn it's ugly face smiled. Out of the frying pan, into the fire, I must be getting rusty

  • fùck she cursed as she felt the weight relieved once wade had tackled the fallen. She rolled and found her bearings, grabbing g a handful of the captains cloak. Hunters weren't usually known for strength, but adreneline kicked in and she pulled, the captain forced backwards from her efforts to get him off the Titan.

  • Wade saw his opening, and as soon the Captain was pulled back, Wade grabbed a grenade from his belt and primed it. With one swift motion he stuffed it under the Captain's chestplate, kicked in the chest and yelled "get down!". There was a second of silence before it went off. And then... silence

  • She dove to the side as she realized what he had done, instinctively shutting her eyes as the small explosion occurred. A moment after the rain had been the only thing breaking the silence. She took off her helmet and laid there, letting out a laugh. "Could always use some excitement here and there."

  • "Yeah, that was definitely...uh..." he was still out of breath. The strike had left a huge gushing wound above his left eyebrow. "That was definitely interesting" he joked. "Mind grabbing the first aid kit from my bag?" Wade pointed the now blood red bag. "Goddamn... those two your doing?"

  • She got up and reached for the bag before heading over to him, kneeling down and looking over her shoulder. "erm yeah, poor bastards." She laughed before turning to him "now let's get you patched up hm?"

  • "C'mon now, I think I can handle myself" Wade laughed as he tried to take the pack from her hand. But as he tried to get up, his head started spinning and he collapsed back down.

  • "Why do all titans think they're invincible?"She said rhetorically and sighing. She dug through the bag, fishing out what she needed and started her work. Within minutes he'd been taken care of, her work diligent and careful. Before she had taken up working for Cayde and Arach, she had been a medic on a team...but they were no longer. "You've a minor concussion, sit tight for a bit and we'll move back."She instructed.

  • "Thank you, Artemis" He said, and just looked at her as she walked back to the bag. There was still something about her, but it didn't make him feel uneasy anymore. It was interesting, more than anything. His eyes found his battered, cracked helmet. "Ah nuts, I need to get a new helmet." He spoke. "I bet Zavala's going to love hearing about this."

  • The huntress let out a laugh at that and gave him a look. "I'll tell him to go easy on you, afterall you just did your job."She said sitting next to him, the rain dissipating into light droplets.

  • "Did I now?" He laughed. "As far as I remember, I was napping through most of the fight" he continued laughing, but quickly stopped as a jolt of pain shot through his head. As they sit there, in silence, rain coming down lightly, he watched the Fallen corpses on the ground, and the Captain. Well, what was left of it anyway. This does feel awfully familiar he thought, remembering his last mission. "You have any idea what time it is?"

  • She blinked and shook her head, her ghost materialized in her palm as she summoned him. "It's well after midnight."He answered "I'll send a report in and let them know." "Thank you Hades."She said as he materialized back into her armor. She turned her attention to wade. "You holding up?"

  • "I'm fine" he said, trying to sound convincing. "You don't have to worry about me" he gave her a warm smile and stood up. A sharp pain in his head reminded if itself, and he staggered from left to right. "But please... can you take the bag?"

  • She nodded, keeping a careful eye on him as she shouldered the bag. titans...I swearthe girl thought as she shook her head. "It's quite a ways back, just..dont push yourself."She sighed.

They started to make their way through the dark, wet forest. Although he tried to put on a brave face and keep going, they had to stop every few minutes so that he could catch a breath. Goddamn, what the hell is going on he was starting to get worried. "So, you never told me what happened at the dreadnought?" He tried to cover his worry.

  • She looked to him, having already noticed they had stopped more frequently and how unsteady he looked. The girl having sensed this but not wanting to bring it up, answered him, trying to get his mind off the pain. "Well, nothing really. I had set up a beacon so forces would have the exact corrdinates...." She paused, looking ahead. "It was so beautiful up there...well when I wasn't attacked by taken."

  • "Beautiful? The dreadnought? That shi-" he was cut off as he almost tripped on something. agh... sonofa...god that hurts. "That ship's nothing but a flying bunch of hive problems", He tried to laugh. "But then again, what do I know. I've been in watch duty for the last 6 months, right?" He smiled.

  • The huntress walked a bit closer to him, watching him more carefully in case the pain was too overwhelming. "There's beauty in everything."She smiled before giving him a sidelong glance and ducking beneath a branch. "I can talk to Zavala if you'd like, get you off these boring watch shifts. Him and I go back, I'm sure he'd listen."

  • "Don't know about that. Hideo tried, when I first got in trouble. But you know Zavala, he can be a bit of a tight-aas." He said with a grin on his face. "Besides, there's no use for me anymore. What was remaining of my fireteam was scattered. Last time I heard from Selina, she was part of an expedition to the Ishtar archives on Venus. Haven't heard anything from 16. Rumor was that she was doing business with the Reef born Awoken, but who knows." He continued as he had to sit down again.

  • She stood there and listened, his words bringing a frown to her face. It could be just her, but if she were stuck on watch for the rest of her guardian days, she would non stop think of her teammates...too much time to think. "Have you tried to contact them?"She quarried.

  • "Yeah of course. Selina and I talked every day when I was first posted on the wall" He said with a small smile. "I guess she felt bad for me, being the only one who went down." His words became heavy. "She was always the most caring of us". He took a deep breath as he continued. "Never heard from 16 again. I tried contacting her ships comms directly...but I think she blames me. Hell, I would too" He said as he got up.

  • Her brows furrowed at this, but she was torn on whether to push forward with it. She had felt a sort of empathy towards him, her heart sinking with familiarity. "I know it's not my place to ask and you do not have to answer...but what happened?"

  • Wade remained silent for a moment. "I was part of a fireteam, Athens. It was me, Selina, 16 and our leader, Gordy." He smiled, sadly. Gordy... "He was an old school Hunter. One of the original Six Coyotes, before they were disbanded. The man took shit from nobody". He said, with a light laugh. "Needless to say, he didn't think much of the chain of command, but when it came to us, he was like a father. He would always put his team before himself." He paused, thinking if he should open up to her. "We were on standby, just hanging out in the comm-room. All of the sudden, a distress signal came through. It came from a settlement near Old Stockholm. So we gear up, we're all ready to leave and our ship is on the platfrom, ready to go. Then Zavala comes on, saying that the mission is scrubbed. 'Your duty is this city, that's your priority'. Gordy looks over to me, and says you have the stick, it's your call. Turns out it was an ambush. Fallen over ran us, and he sacrificed himself to buy us enough time to get out. 16 never spoke to me again after that, after all I'm the one who decided to go".
