PvE alternatives to strike playlist and Nightfall

One criticism I have always had about Destiny is that after story activities the game relies on redoing the same exact missions we've already done. While a sense of personal character progression exists, story/universe progression more or less halts once the player does everything once. And let's face it, it doesn't take long to do that. These are my suggestions to improve that sense of story/universe progression. Basically, the strike playlist and Nightfall need to go. I know this seems drastic and even harsh, but they are kind of a cop out when it comes to replayability. The craziest thing is that there are ways to change that very formulaic system without adding new areas to the game world. That being said, I think one new area should be added and I'll start with that. The Nightfall As it is now, this is just a much harder than normal version of an existing strike that can be completed once a week for a reward. I think replacing that with something that I have seen mentioned several times since the first month the game came out would be a great idea. Defending the city. Put us on the ground at the edge of the city. Match up 4-6 Guardians to survive waves of enemies. The enemy faction would change weekly as well as the modifiers and it could be suited to match whatever is going on in the universe at that time. For example, right now Taken would randomly interfere. Because of matchmaking, the required(not recommended) light level would be 290. It could be completed once a week per character for high end rewards. Basically it would be like the "poor man's" way of getting gear that is comparable to raid gear in attack and defense values. These would just be higher versions of Vanguard gear or gear for whatever faction the player is currently allied with. Unique perks and elemental primaries would still be tied to raid gear only. On top of that, reaching certain numbers of completions for this would result in Vanguard packages. I know what some will think, but this does not render raid gear pointless. It will still have its unique perks and appearance. People will still know it was attained from the raid. I personally think everyone, despite their play style/preference, should be able to "become legend." Whether it's raiders, PvPers, primarily solo players, or those that don't really have the time to coordinate multiple raids every week hoping to get those drops to max out. The Strike Playlist The strikes are fun, but I think they serve their purpose as part of the story. They would remain on the map only with matchmaking so that players can replay them whenever they want, just as it is now. What would replace the strike playlists would be what is still basically a strike. It would just be varied and appropriately themed for whatever planet it is on. It would drop three Guardians on a planet in one of several locations. It would then consist of going to a location to investigate enemy activity which will result in surviving waves of enemies, once completed it would then do that again, then the third and final location would be a boss fight. Maybe one of the first two locations ends with a mini boss like a Walker or something comparable to one of the level 28 PoE bosses. Instead of a named boss, the third location boss would be something appropriately themed to the planet. So the Cosmodrome and the Moon would be Fallen or Hive, Venus would be Fallen or Vex, Mars would be Vex or Cabal, the Dreadnaught would be Hive or Cabal, and they could all potentially be partially or fully Taken themed due to the current them of year 2. This may sound simple and even boring, so I will provide examples. Cosmodrome. Three Guardians are dropped off in the Forgotten Shore right outside the entrance to the Terrestrial Complex. There have been Fallen communications referring to a meeting in the structure above the entrance to Rasputin's bunker. The Guardians race to the location. Upon scanning a Fallen transmitter, they are alerted. After surviving several waves of enemies the information gathered leads the Guardians through the Grottos where they encounter some Hive. After quickly dealing with them they continue up into the Rocketyard where they encounter what appears to be Fallen in the Kings colors. After surviving several waves of enemies a large Fallen Captain that serves as a mini boss appears. Once defeated we learn that the Kings are attempting to reestablish their once lost territory, so into Kingswatch go the Guardians. After fighting through Fallen to the final chamber they find what appears to be a new Kell and his Servitor. This serves as the final encounter of this strike. This could could also be completely Hive themed and end with defeating a Hive abomination. The Moon would be these same types of scenarios. Venus would be a Kell or a Vex Mind or Gatelord. Mars would be a Vex Mind or Gatelord or a Cabal military leader, etc. These strikes would still have their own unique legendary gear that matches the theme of the strike. Let me know what you guys think and bump if you like it!
