Got the black spindle but did not het the grimoire that i see pop up on others on youtube videos. Also, my grimoire score remained the same before and after killing the boss and completing the black spindle hidden quest.

No exotic weapon confers grimoire score from its acquisition. The only thing the initial acquisition of an exotic weapon confers in grimoire is a new card specific to said weapon, which also tracks statistical data on your account wide use of the weapon.
