Ax sat by the fire, studying his new sword. He read the inscription as he flipped it. "Born in darkness, raised in light." What does that even mean? As he pondered this he dozed off, and encountered a flashback of his previous life...
"I'm scared," the boy said. He had every right to be with 3 pounds of C-4 on his back.
"You'll be ok. Everything's gonna be ok." I had to reassure him. What else could I do? Tell him he's gonna die?
He started to cry. He cried for his life, his friends, someone to hold as I bent down to examine the device. One blue wire extended from a battery to a trigger on his chest. I took out my pliers.
"Ok bud. I'm gonna need you to be with me on this okay? I'm gonna count to three. Ready?" The kid nodded.
"One, two..."
I closed my eyes. One wrong move, one errant twitch, and we both were gone. I took a deep breath and...
"GAAAH!"
Ax's dog, Dew, was sitting in front of him with a cautious look on his muzzle. He perked up. Footsteps? But who would be out on such a night?
A NightStalker! Haha!
Alice immediately shade-steps back behind a tree, blending into the night. She clutched the Scout Rifle to her chest. She scans her Radar, amazed that her skills were noticed by the dog. She stays there, hugging the tree and holding her breath.
-
"Which way Dew?" The dog points his nose towards Alice's tree. The Titan pauses, then shoots a nearby tree, causing the bolt to ricochet and knock Alice's gun right out of her hands. "Nowhere to hide in this neck of the woods." He picks up Alice's gun. "Come out, night stalker. Sorry, didn't know who it was."
-
"I was perfectly fine behind that tree." Alice calls out. "Nice idea, by the way."
-
"Why thank you. What brings you here?" The dog runs to Alice, rifle in mouth, and gives it to her.
-
"Well I just had to come and find out whether the tales of the Guardian and his Dog were true. The ones filling the tower halls as we speak." She jests, then turns serious. "I was a fair distance away, and I saw the fire, so I thought to come check it out, good or bad. Instead, I find a Guardian sleeping next to a dog, mumbling something about being scared and C-4." Alice tilts her head. "What was that about?"
-
The Titan looked down, and replied, "It was all too painful a memory to share. Let's just say that everything has its consequences." He called her over to his campfire. "Can I get you anything? Tea? Coffee?" He holds up a bag. "Potato chips?"
-
"You have a bag of potato chips? Where the hell did you get that?" She sits down by the fire. Dew walks over, still with the gun in his/her mouth. Alice takes it, then puts it on her back. Right next to the sniper rifle and three sword sheaths. "Yeah, I'll take some water and carbohydrates." Then with that, she pops her helmet off with the help of her ghost, Aprill.
-
"My name's Ax," he said as he handed Alice the bag and a bottle. "I'm a former member of BDU, or Bomb Disposal Unit. That would probably explain the mumbling. And the arm." He held out his right arm, which was that of an Exo. Strange, considering he was human.
-
"Ahh," Alice says. "Well, my name is Alice Long. Umm, I'm one of the two surviving members of an ancient order named 'Bladers', a group that used blades to kill any enemy." Alice looks at the fire, a far-away look in her eyes. "Long since destroyed though. So I've had to adopt the gun style, while combined with my three swords." Alice looks up at Ax. "You haunted by the past as well?"
-
Edited by Batman: 10/15/2015 2:06:52 AM"Affirmative," he says solemnly. "So many good people at the end of my gun... I had to, just because they believed differently. And so many hurt by the devices I couldn't stop... Sometimes you look back and ask yourself, 'Could they have been spared?'" He looked towards the sky, deep in thought. He remembered it all too well. The vests, the soldiers, the caskets... It was a life he was glad to leave behind. His ghost popped up. "You two lovebirds got a problem, and it rhymes with... Ummm..." "Cut it out, Dexter. And... Eww. I just got that. And third of all..." He turns to Alice. "Here. You ready?" He asks, giving her a grenade.
-
Alice waves it off. "Don't worry about me. I can handle myself well." Alice stands up. "And speaking of handle, let's go kill a Vandal." Alice looks at Dexter with a big grin.
-
Ax shook his head in disappointment. "You too? I-" He was rudely interrupted by taken Vex who teleported in. They surrounded and trapped the two guardians. Ax and Alice readied their weapons, and a long standoff ensued. After what felt like 5 whole minutes, Ax whispered, "Shield your eyes." He dropped a smoke grenade that blinded the Vex, leaving them free to escape.
-
When the smoke clears, Alice disappears from where she was standing, leaving Ax and Dew questioning where she went. Then a shadow crosses Ax's visor, and up in the sky, high above where they stand, Alice unsheathes all three of her swords while spinning through the air. Then she looks down at the vex below, closes her eyes, then flips upside down, letting all her swords slide clear of their sheaths. Alice starts to fall head first, the blades falling with her. Then, when she is halfway between the hight of her peak and the ground, she opens her eyes, glowing a mix between blue, yellow and purple. The swords picks up speed, each one catching alight to their corresponding element. Alice flips again, feet first now, and all the swords flip as well, in sync with Alice, their tips pointing down. The Vex systems begin to to work again, and they aim towards Ax, gaping at the sky, at Alice. Then each blade slams into a single Vex in a big triangle shape. The Vex look beside them, at the three vex that were stabbed from head to toe. Then Alice lands on the ground softly, with her right palm on the earth, looking up at Ax. "Now you shield your eyes." Alice says with a smile, before Alice brings down her left fist onto the wet ground. As soon as the fist strikes the ground, each blade lights up with the element, beginning to swirl around in a massive bubble of Arc, Solar and Void energy, wiping out all vex in a flurry of colours. When the enemy's are dead, she stands up calmly and looks at Ax with a smile. "What'd ya think?"
-
"Quite the badass, aren't you?" Ax looked around at the fallen Vex and spotted a taken portal opening. However, there was but one of them. "Alice, I don't think this fight is over. Stay sharp. And yes, pun intended." He hid behind a tree near the portal and drew his slap rifle.

"Meh," Alice shrugs. "Swords have feelings too. Treat them well, and they will reward you with stuff like that." Alice walks over to each sword, lifts it from the ground, and puts it back in its corresponding sheath. Then she looks at the Rupture. "I wonder what champion will come out of that."
-
*The rupture breaks and a taken titan Flys out of it and the titan lays there motionless*

Edited by MegaBeast42: 10/16/2015 11:07:22 PMAlice turns fully around to look at the T.Titan. She had heard about Guardians being taken, but she never had the chance to see one, let alone fight it. But from what she heard from survivors, these guys were the big deal. No-more bravado to layer her skills, they needed to get out of there. "Ax?" She called out across the clearing. "Fight or flight?"
-
"Help" She heard the titan say.
-
"Wait," Ax said. He peeked out, and saw something come out of the portal. "Help," begged the man. Ax came out of his cover to see a fellow guardian. He had heavy Injuries, but nothing Ax couldn't treat. He was a medic by trade, after all. Ax walked over to him and pulled him up. "You okay? Here." He turned to Alice. "Let's get this guy back to camp, yeah?" He lent him a hand, and eventually they were back to camp. Ax laid the guardian down on a log as he removed his chest piece. He opened a backpack and drew a small syringe, injecting... No, extracting something. He put the contents into a tube and then into a centrifuge. "Oh, I'm just extracting your DNA so I can treat your wounds better and accelerate the recovery process. Is that alright with you?"
