Dark Souls Lore Thread

In light of the fact that the Scholar of the First Sin DLC is coming out for Dark Souls 2, I thought it might be worth it to give a little background on the first game in order to help understand the second game. This might help some people understand more about what was going on, if they hadn’t figured it out and seen Vaati Vidya’s videos. Keep in mind that a lot of this is speculation, and there is a TON of things to talk about. Each character has their own story, and each environment was shaped with care. I won’t be able to cover everything in this first post, so if you want some more info, just let me know, and I will post it on this thread. Additionally, there are massive spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t played, or finished, the game yet. This is your only warning. Now without further ado, let’s get started. General Summary Dark Souls opens explaining that the First Flame was basically the beginning of the world as we know it; Light and Dark, Life and Death, Heat and Cold, etc. Four beings found Lord Souls in the First Flame: Nito, First of the Dead, Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight, The Witch of Izalith, and finally, the Furtive Pygmy. Three of these four Lords rose up against the Everlasting Dragons, which had existed since the beginning of time. Additionally, Seath the Scaleless betrayed his kind in a fit of jealousy, killing all those who possessed what he did not. After the Everlasting Dragons died, the four Lords went onto business as usual in Lordran; Gwyn founded Anor Londo and his reign of Light. Nito went on and became Death incarnate. The Witch of Izalith and her Daughters of Chaos went on to create fantastic Pyromancies in Lost Izalith. Seath, now a Duke because of his valiant efforts, founded the basics of Magic and Sorcery. Nothing was said of the Furtive Pygmy. However, the Undead begin appearing, and the Fire begins to fade. It is revealed that you are an Undead, locked away in an Asylum. You are freed, however, by a man named Oscar of Astora, who later is found lying on rubble, dying. He gives you the Estus Flask in order to enable your journey, and tells your character about the fate of the Undead: Ring the Bells of Awakening in Lordran. After escaping the Asylum and being taken to Lordran by a giant raven, you learn (if you talk to Crestfallen), that there are actually TWO Bells of Awakening; one above, one below. So your character sets out to ring both Bells, which is not that simple of a task. After doing so, your character probably found Kingseeker Frampt in Firelink Shrine. He tells you that you must succeed Lord Gwyn, link the flame, and wipe away the Curse of the Undead. To do this, you must travel to Anor Londo and retrieve the Lordvessel. After doing so, Frampt is elated, and shows you Firelink Altar, then tells you that you must collect all of the Lord Souls in order to get inside the Kiln of the First Flame. Your character goes and kills the legends that had shaped the world, and travels into the Kiln, killing Gwyn, and Linking the First Flame… By burning yourself alive. But there is another ending, and there is far more meaning behind what you have encountered in Lordran. Here are the links to more information. Read on, and enlighten yourself, dear reader! What do we know of the furtive pygmy? It's mentioned in the opening scene of ds1 as being found with nito, gwynn and the witch of izalith but isn't included in the lords who rode up against the endless Dragons.
Bump for knowledge
