Has anyone ever noticed that we as christians are judged by a higher standard (Basic principles of the Bible) which every non-christian seems to know but yet they don't judge themselves or others like them by the same standard? Perhaps someone can answer this observation/question in a non-derogatory and abusive manner, in which case I won't reply to you anyway. I await the intellectuals.

  • We hold you up to a standard that is compliant with what the bible presents. Because you claim to follow it, we expect you follow it to the letter, and uphold the same standards that it presents. Really, you're putting yourself on that pedestal by announcing it publicly.

  • I understand there are many people that claim to be christians, but don't practice a single principle set out in the Bible, believe me, I know many of them. But the problem arises when those who do practice the Bible are stereotyped into the same category as those that do not.

  • I only hold people up to the standards that they hold themselves up to. Really, to me, all you have to do is Be a decent human being. But if someone does say they have a particular trait that they uphold, they should keep to that word.

  • I agree with what you have said. Some Christians are too quick to forget that we are called in the Bible to be good witnesses and to be a light unto the world and that the best way we can do this is through our actions, not our words. My advice, be wary of Christians that would have you believe the Bible and its contents are not set in stone and are open to change. The Bible is God's word and is not open to numerous interpretations. With enough study anyone can learn it consistently upholds the same principles throughout its entirety, with respect to certain traditions being abolished in the New Testament, and that it does not contradict itself.

Quite literally all you just said is, "I know there are those who don't follow my religion, but why don't they judge themselves and others based on my religion?" What you call higher standards, others call skewed perspective, as I'm sure you would deem other's beliefs.

  • The observation is based in irony. Why would one man judge another man by his own beliefs when in fact, the one casting judgement does not practice the same beliefs as the the one he judges? Whats the point?
