Most people don't like pvp because the chances of getting into a match with either sweaty try hards or laggy players is nearly a certainty. Once every few hundred matches, you find those mystical unicorns of lobbies where everyone has a constant green bar and the skill levels dissonance is not so great that it is obvious who is going to win within the first ten seconds. Those matches in which you know that every kill you get, and every time you are killed, is legitimate, rather than lag. Those matches in which you have to fight for your win, rather than it being a forgone conclusion. Those are the matches that make pvp enjoyable for most players. Not queuing up and seeing a group of red bars on the opposing side, or a fireteam of 5+ k/d players in full sweat mode. Unfortunately, with the state of Destiny's pvp, the latter is vastly more common than the former. Until that changes, Destiny will always be a subpar Pvp game. This isn't even delving into the issue of pvp quests requiring certain objectives that can be frustrating. So many times have I died attempting to get an auto rifle kill when I would have otherwise won an encounter with a grenade or melee. There isn't much that is more frustrating than going into a match with a scout rifle for kills on a map where you are never more than about two feet away from other players at a time. These experiences can severely damage a person's views of pvp, even when they would otherwise have enjoyed the Crucible.
