Um no. Hadium Flakes some mats and motes get you the legendary sword.
Once you max that and infuse it to 280 or above the exotic sword quest becomes available.
Which is kill majors and guardians in the crucible. If you dont want the exotic sword dont do the quest, but you definitely will still have the legendary sword regardless.
