From my take, light is a lie. Or, darkness is a lie. Oryx stated that when he ate the gift mast, he felt a sense of light and duty. This leads me to belive that guardian's light is an illusion, forced by the traveler. [spoiler]since day 1 I've belived that the traveler is evil. Just more evidence [/spoiler]
