The hive doesnt want the strongest survive, their visión is death to all, because death is the final form of life, they are constanlly tormented by the hunger of ligth from their worms, so nop, in the end they are just a fool víctims of the dsrkness ho make them his kill tool.

Oryx's court being allowed to openly challenge him to combat, and the final card of the Books of Sorrow discussing his feelings about his potential death clearly prove that their philosophy was not just mere talk to him.

Can you tell me which card? I'm very interested since there is not much detail on the final shape, but I'm inclined to still disagree with you because of Book of Sorrows XXII where Oryx says "And what is that final shape? It is a fire without fuel, burning forever, killing death, asking a question that is its own answer, entirely itself. That is what we must become." Particularly because of the killing of death portion. To kill death is to remove death.
