You sir need to pay more attention. Free content until next major content? Seriously? So you'd rather buy two more dlc this year? Yeah didn't think so.

Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests." ^^That is free stuff for everyone regardless of money spent by an individual. Now, saying that they are using the funds to bolster the service means they intended to release this new free content anyway but making made from the microtransactions go into making the free content better since they would be able to assign more people to it and make the content more robust than if no money was made by microtransactions.

I don't think this quite counts :/ EDIT: I'm not saying it won't happen. But if we look at this game's past, would it really surprise you or they didn't give any free content?

Micro transactions are destroying my favorite hobby. If you love video games like I do then you shouldn't be supporting their destruction.

As much as I want this to be true I haven't seen a source confirm this. Bungie has not stated this nor its publisher. Only microtransactions from the kotaku article were confirmed nothing else. I also don't see it as a viable replacement model to what bungie currently has. It would be very impressive if their revenue could increase from this substitution. As such I believe it is additional supplemental income for bungie to help provide a cash flow for more and development that will still cost us money (which I'm okay with doing). But I agree microtransactions don't belong in $60 games. I buy a game, I would like everything to be obtainable through in game progress. This trend is not a favorite of mine. But in the end I'll probably end up buying things, because I am a weak willed man.

They hinted at it in the news article. Either way it will pay for more support. So long as it stays only cosmetic there is no problem here

Everything should be obtainable in the game. In every game you have to shell out $60 for. Cosmetic or not.
