You spend hours researching a video game?
Research stocks and bonds for the same amount of time and make money. That's where your research hours should be spent.
The games are like $50. That's like almost 0 dollars. Why research that? There is no payoff.

And, given that 99% of my time spent playing it so far has been rendered completely, and [i]utterly[/i] pointless thanks to TTKs relentlessly dictatorial gear structure, I decided that spending even 1 minute more in Destiny would, in fact, be a total waste of time. Like you've pointed out, there are far better ventures to pursue.
