A figure stood at the other end of the bridge. Judging by it's appearance, it was clearly some sort of Taken. something was... different, though.
The figure smiled, then spoke.
"La'haar! buddy! great seein' ya. How's the wife and kids?"

"I'm not married." He kept his weapon ready.

"I don't think I'm the one being messed with..."
-
"Now what makes you say that?"
-
"Oh, nothing."

"Something's bothering you... Is it the eyes? it's probably the eyes."

"And the general trans dimensional style."

"It takes some getting used to."

"What did Oryx promise you? Wealth? Power? Women?"
-
"I wasn't promised anything. Didn't exactly have a say in the matter..."

Edited by overlordkualsi: 10/1/2015 4:27:44 PM"Right. It's an ultimatum. Either you fight for him and gain the ability to counter your greatest fear, or you remain trapped in another dimension for the rest of eternity. That's the thing with Taken. You want to know another fun fact about them? Wherever they go, there's an eerie mist. You see, that mist is denser when there are more of them. And this mist is almost liquid." He reached up and touched the mist. "That means there are a lot of your buddies. But-" He spun around, arms outstretched. "There are no blights. So where's the mist coming from? Answer:" He pointed at the beam. "Is there. Now I wonder what would happen if that beam there were tampered with. What if a small, metal object interfered." He pointed his gun at the beam. "Like this bullet." He fired a shot at the beam, and a bright flash blinded him for a second. When he could see again, there was a translucent, yet solid floor covering the gaping hole. Upon it stood hundreds of Taken, twitching unnaturally. "Did not see that coming." (This music sets the tone for this scene.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRMkiztF45w

(Read that entire post in Matt Smith's voice....) "Clever as always. Look... If it means anything, I really don't want to do this."
-
"Then don't."
-
"I don't want to do this... But the guy holding the strings...."
-
"I'm not going to fight you." (Taken La'haar?)
-
(I'll leave that up to you.) "You'll die if you don't..." His hand went down to the cannon at his hip.

He stabbed the strange flooring with the shard, dissipating it. La'haar didn't know how long it had been. Minutes, hours, even days, maybe. He sat up. He was in a dark realm, nothing but a starry floor beneath him. A voice, sharp, yet comforting, spoke to him. You are La'haar Malphur. A Hunter. A loner. You prefer the solidarity of the Wild to the company of your friends. You have been taken. Calm yourself. Remove your cloak. Let go of your pride. Let down your guard. There are no prey to hunt here. What ends motivate you? What prey do you stalk? You seek to kill a foe you cannot find. To make him atone. You seek Dredgen Yor. What is a demon to make a man atone for his sins? Your prey alludes you, and this enrages you. Release this rage. Unseal the bottle which keeps your emotions. Use your anger. There is a knife for you. It is shaped like [vengeance]. Take it up. Feel it's weight. Take your new shape.

The Taken hunter watched as his long time friend became something else. "No... NO! Dammit! Why?! Why would you let yourself be taken?! You idiot! You should have just killed me...."
-
"Korvic, old friend. This power was not the result of an ultimatum. This power was a gift to me. And with this gift, I will finally avenge my grandfather, and kill Dredgen Yor."
-
"Dredgen Yor? DREDGEN YOR?? He's been dead for centuries!"
-
"You don't understand. With this power, I can finally make him pay! You do not understand what you have been given, Korvic. Embrace your gift. Use it."
-
"..."
-
"You are a fool, Korvic. You resist Him, and that makes you weak. Embrace Him, and He will grant you such power."
-
"Well then, if I'm a fool, what does that make you? This delusion of vengeance has made you blind."
-
"You're wrong, Korvic. I see now more than I would have seen in a thousand lifetimes."
