Bungie Community Humpday Supdate. (September 30th, 2015)

This is the first supdate I have written where I’ve been legitimately upset. For those of you who may be reading this supdate, but cannot contribute, I am sorry. I don’t think there’s anything any of us can do in the meantime to fix this problem, so I’ll try my best to offer some solutions to alleviate the issue a little in this week’s supdate. Big Time Update. If any of you haven’t noticed, there was an enormous website announcement today. All accounts that are not connected to a gaming account that hasn’t played Destiny are banned, for all intents and purposes. As expected, for something of this type and scale, the response has been… less than enthusiastic. I would recommend calling poison control before entering this thread, because people are spitting venom. What’s Going On? Another week, another bunch of hot topics. Shall we take a look? In #Destiny, secrets are being uncovered. The method of uncovering this? Breaking the game. Burn is asking some serious questions in #Community. Have you heard of the mythics?
Note: This thread is old, but I believe it is still relevant
#Offtopic has brought about the most recent news from NASA...liquid water on Mars. #Gaming mourns over the death of the MC...by a guardian? Finally, Enigmatic Entity has made a thread to find what the community thinks qualifies as a quality thread. That's it for this week! See you next week for more hot topics! Mail Sack! Zøøb asks:
Guess what?
What? *crickets* Foudre Fondue asks:
How do you feel about "The Taken King" Expansion so far?
I've been enjoying it greatly! The story is simple, but the characters and progression is enjoyable. Also, as a lore person, I've been enjoying the new background story. Mechetti asks:
Thoughts and what you expect from Crackdown 3?
I'm excited. I didn't enjoy Crackdown 2 as much, but I'm hopeful for the third installment. Sapid Statefarm asks:
Did you see the blood moon?
Yes. II Smiggles II asks:
Thoughts and what you expect from halo 5?
I'm interested in the whole "ONI" scenario. Have you been listening to "Hunt the Truth"? It has been fun to follow. I also want to see what happens between the two teams. Tune in next week for the next mail sack. Cheers! Game Night Recap! FCAW - Myth Game Night - (9/25/15) FCAW - M1A1 Game Night - (9/29/15) FCAW hosted their usual two this week. Myth on Friday and M1A1 on Tuesday. Only a few games were played in Myth, but a couple of them lasted hours. And, everyone played on a new version of Marathon 1! Halo: MCC Game Night - (9/25/15) - 7:30PM EST There was an impromptu MCC Game Night this Friday! Always nice to see one of those pop up everyone once in a while. Thanks to Headhunter for hosting, and I hope everyone had a blast! Special End Note: The Game Nights section is unfortunately absent this week! Due to the The CC and FCAW Schedules for October not being posted yet, we really don't know what the Game Nights for this next week are going to be! You can expect an FCAW Game Night on Friday and Tuesday, and possibly a Weekly Destiny Crucible #Carnage. Maybe even some TFL Game Nights... Well, I guess that's all, folks! See you next time! I hope. Private Chapter Spotlights! If you’ve been condemned by Bungie’s new innovative [This word requires a SecondClass® Premium Membership to view.], I’ve got some places for you to inhabit while some of us work on a more-permanent solution! Check out some of these groups to keep you preoccupied. Seventh Conflux The first is Seventh Conflux, the group that hosts the supdates! Seventh Conflux is a group that focuses on the Bungie Community as a whole, intent on the upkeep of traditions that have endured for over a decade. It is open to all members, and overseen by many well-known community members from every corner of the site. The current reigning group owner is Rollin. Art and Stuff Art and Stuff is a group about… well… Sports? It’s a hub for talented content-creators from Bungie.net, currently owned and operated by Progo. Give it a look if you’re interested in the things we can make! The Friends List TFL is a more selective, tight-knit, active community on Bungie.net. It is the original home of the supdates, and strives to bring quality conversation and community to a website in which it is lacking. Member admittance is a little more strict, but worth a membership request, since you’ll likely get in. The group is owned and ran by El Burninator. El Burninator’s Burning Question. How do you feel about the recent decision to block non-destiny using accounts from posting? Wrap-Up. Thanks for dealing with all my shit, guys. In the weeks following, I’m going to be working on a lot of things in my corner of the website and beyond, so I don’t know how involved I will be in the Supdate making process. I appreciate the continued support I’ve been receiving, and hope to continue this well into the future. Stay classy, Bungie.net.

 • Nice supdate as usual, Burn. Concerning the recent changes, as I said in Deej's thread, it's a double-edged sword. Sure it gets rid of a lot of alts and possibly some toxic users, but it also gets rid of loyal and old users. I think Bungie has to realize that it's their methods of moderation and lack of a punishment/reward system that needs evaluating. Sure, getting rid of Google and Facebook sign ins helped reduce alts, and this current change will make it harder for people to create alts on the go, but it also punishes the few who don't have/link Destiny. I appreciate the fact that they realize something has to be done with alts and toxic users, but I really think there is a better way to go about doing it - their method seems as if it's the quick and easy way of doing it. Personally, I think it's unfair that a lot of people who invested time and effort into the community are going to be push off the site. There are probably several of them more deserving to be on the site than someone like me because they actually participate(d) in the community. Unfortunately, this change is basically locking the forums behind a paywall. Again, I appreciate them trying to do something to help improve the community, but it just doesn't seem right. I really hope they decide to revise their decision and at least give people with a significant tenure (maybe 3 or 4 years) a pass.
