Before ttk came out, nightfalls gave extra reputation boosts and the gunsmith was available before it came out so some people got ahead of the game.

And you had to be I think lvl 36 or was it 38 to test the first guns. He must have done the guns on Tuesday and then again the next day on Wednesday when Banshee gets new ones. That and farming Golden Age relics.
