Odds are if somebody doesn't play Destiny, the site is really just better off without them. Most of "those guys" are assholes. If the user quality of people who will be forced off is that of Mad Max, we really aren't losing anything of value. Alt users like Lincoln and Purse will be castrated as well.
I would like a way for 6-7 year old accounts to be exempt from this, though.

Your account bio is "smart, interesting, seems out of place". If that doesn't reek of insecurity and inflated self-worth, I don't know what does. You resort to calling individual users out as being shit when you can't even smell yourself. We all know that having to have played Destiny isn't going to remove the bad users, especially not if you're the type we're left with. The amount of ignorance and lack of self-awareness that oozes off your posts just astounds me.

That bio is actually a quote from another user from a few years back. Note the lack of capitalization and how I myself am a grammar [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url]. And you want cold, brutal honesty? Bungie doesn't care about the old community anymore. Why? Because they're not a source of revenue, all they do is hurt the game's advertisement and public image, and discourage others from purchasing and playing it. Its bad for business. And I agree with them. This new update only does good things for the site. And this is the community now, You cannot change that, and you cannot "fix" that. Either you accept that fact and just join it, or leave. There's always option three of stubbornly staying just to "fight" for an online community that doesn't want you on a site that doesn't want you, built and maintained by people actively trying to get rid of you.

No, because said users are assholes who enjoy starting arguments and further dividing the already broken and segmented Seventh Column. They're cancer. And Bungie's finally cutting them out. And its their site, their IP, their property. If they want to restrict the site to paying customers, that's their business.

Loyal fans would have bought Destiny. From a business standpoint, this makes sense; they're cutting off dead weight that is only being negative about their current product. Its a dick move, but a smart move.

It's pretty -blam!-ing greedy of them to do that. A lot of quality posters are about to banned for... What? People don't look at #destiny then buy the game, and #offtopic won't -blam!- Destiny's profits. It won't stop Alts. I can just hop on with 15 accounts and just play about 2seconds of gameplay each, and bam. I can be banned as much as I would like. It does nothing to help anyone, just pisses people off.

No, it's not. It's pretty relevant. Your example didn't even add up. There are plenty of other game forums, like many said, even Sep7agon if you want 'the flood '. There are more ways than one to keep in touch with friends. It's up to them whether they want to keep the friendship going, a game forum doesn't need to decide that for you or anyone.
