Have the vex ever fought the hive?, like are there any references or hints in the lore

Yes. Crota created a "wound" in Oryx's throne room at one point that allowed the Vex in. At the time, Oryx was off meditating in the Deep/Darkness and wasn't aware. Crota and his sisters had a huge battle and we're getting kind of skunked. Eventually Oryx came back and took care of everything. The story in the calcified fragments is pretty cool. The Vex try to create a simulation to mimic Oryx, but fail b/c his power comes from a form of magic. The Vex even go as far as to start worshiping objects to try to mimic the way Oryx gets his power from the worms (probably what we see in the Black Garden), but it doesn't work. Eventually Oryx captures the Vex leader and does the old, "I'm going to reveal everything before I kill you" villain move. The Vex takes the chance to blast that information into the ether, and then gets demolished.

Cool, I hope there's a planet in a later DLC where vex and hive are fighting, the two biggest armies or the ones that can mass produce their armies

Crota actually got tossed into the wound where the Vex were (as punishment from Oryx for f---ing up*), and made his name fighting through eons and eons of Vex simulations. The Hive are hundreds of thousands of years old (I think), so Crota potentially could have killed millions/billions of Vex enemies. *Oryx says something along the lines of, "Fight your way back through time or die in the process."

Crota cuts open a portal that allows Vex to pour into Oryx's throne world. Oryx banish Crota by throwing him into a vex portal and says something along the lines of "become great or die out there" some shit like that. Oryx turns his throne world inside out and thus creates the dreadnaught to further protect himself. Book of Sorrows
