Help Me Please, I Suck With Hawkmoon

Edit 2: Thanks for all the advice guys it really helped. Now Ima XxX360NoScope#420BlazeItMastaHawkawsomeOGxXx Yall rock Edit: Thanks for all the helpful posts people. So far the list of tips boils down to Pace your shots Strafe more Use Hawkawsome more often Always aim around the upper chest area If there is anything you want to add outside of that list feel free. Let me just start by saying that I love hand cannons. Every single one of em' (except the scrappy blues and greens). Red Hand IX, The Fulcrum, Devil You Know, Devil You Don't, TLW, Thorn, and now Hawkmoon. For whatever reason I just can't handle the kick on it and in Crucible I just get melted by everyone using their Hawkmoon (or any other primary). In the kick is so bad for me I'm almost at the point of maining a hunter instead of a warlock just for chain of woe. Any advice/tips you good Hawkawsome users that can help a brotha out?

  • I am a avid hawkmoon user and I gotta say the biggest advice I could give is git gud lol. With environment of pulse rifles if you pace your shots too slow you will be dead, so you shouldn't miss shots. secondly it might be something with flinching but I find the hit box for the head to be right below head so you should always aim for the upper chest . To shoot as fast as possible you have to adjust slightly down and to the right after each shot. thirdly don't get into long range encounter pulse and scout rifles will kill you. Next don't get into close/mid-close range encounters unless you are a hunter and are beastly with a throwing knife because shotguns will snipe you. Next if you are getting shot don't really worry about headshots just shoot upper chest precision shots under pressure is too much to deal with. My final piece of advice I would give is to respect the goddamn meta and use high impact pulse rifle like the sparechange.25/the messenger/hopscotch pilgrim with stability upgrades and a conspiracy theory-D because that is clearly the way the developers intended the crucible to be played...

      • If you're using hunter, throwing knives go hand in hand with it.

      • Just keep using it non-stop. Once you get the right perks and the feel of it is a damn monster. The range nerf sucked but once you find the sweet spot it's lawn mower.

Here's a good tip. For your perks, CHOOSE HAMMERFORGED. It makes the hitbox almost 2x as big and aim assistance is higher, as well as your bullets reach longer distance. Trust me. This is what made Felwinter's Lie overpowered, it was the only shotgun after the patch to be maxed on Impact and Range, similar to the builds of the Matador 64 or Party Crasher, although Felwinters had Hammerforged which made the aim assistance of your bullets higher and tightened the spread of your bullets, making bullets more accurate and going further at the same time. The matador and party crasher only had Reinforced Barrel, which, both perks will max out the range on your shotgun, but Reinforced Barrel didn't give the bonus range AND ACCURACY.

          • If you're looking for a real light weapon that is accurate AND feels like nothing with no kickback when you shoot, try the MIDA Multi-tool. Best scout weapon for crucible! ( in my opinion of course )

            • Besides giving you the generic "pace your shots" tip, the only thing that you really can learn without experience is to be attentive to the hawkmoons effect. If you fired all three of your money shots in the mag (listen for the *ping*) then reload. However if you haven't, try to resist the instinctive reload until you do.

              • Tip, point gun, ads, squeeze trigger, repeat as necessary Just go into PvE Slow your shots down and you'll do fine

              • You're probably just used to having more aim assist. I love hawkmoon for that reason. I trust my thumbs mor than the assist. Best advice is to practice with just hawkmoon in pve. Use a sniper that has minimal aim assist as well and you'll get the knack for headshots. If you switch off of hawkmoon for some reason, use a scout rifle. Just practice precision kills all the time.

              • The best advice is just time your shots. Don't spam on the trigger. Patience=accuracy.

              • If you wait a half-second longer between shots it may help. This gun is difficult to shoot full speed. Slow down a bit - hits count more than speed with hand cannons. Also - get closer. You won't out-range the scout or pulse rifles. Get in there.

              • If you have trouble with hand cannons run PvE with them until you feel confident enough with your quick precision hits and reload timing.

Handcannons are unreliable, use a pulse rifle and teach these shotgun fags to use their primary.

                  • Practice, practice, practie. Drop into the Cosmodrome and just run around the first area shooting dregs and vandals in the head. Down them from up close, mid-range and long distance. The way they move will also help you learn how to land crits on strafing targets.

                  • Not sure if it's been brought up, but Hawkmoon is the rare weapon where you don't want to constantly re-load it. You want to make sure you get the full use of the 3 extra damage bullets.

                    • When I first got it a few months ago I had the same problem, it's harder to handle now with the nerf but you get used to it if you use it enough

                    • Hawkmoon was my first exotic hand canon. If anything it ruined all other hand canons for me, they feel like plastic toy guns next to hawkmoon

                    • Pace shots is the only way because the rate of fire allows you to shoot your next shot before the recoil returns to where you initially aimed. Luckily, Bungie made the hitbox for head shots the size of a watermelon

                    • Other than practice using it, I don't know of any other way. Jump into pve. Find some fast, mobile targets. Try to get some headshots while they, and you are moving. If you can reliably pull that off, I'd say you're on your way.
