Bungie has shown that they are completely incompetent when it comes to game design. They introduced Etheric Light to give people something to grind for in House of Wolves, to mask the complete lack of content in that steaming turd. Then they go the complete opposite direction with The Taken King by making all existing gear obsolete to force people to buy that.

I'd say their less incompetent and more greedy. they know exactly what they're doing. making money at the expense of poor gameplay and pissed gamers.

I think you give them a little too much credit. They're greedy [i]and[/i] incompetent. If they were greedy and competent, it wouldn't be so obvious.

The gear can still be used in the crucible ....

crucible is somewhat unplayable what with constant lag and obvious gamers who are exploiting it.
